SWIM followed Norman's tek and conducted 2 pulls. First one was too much naphtha, and the jar is set out to evaporate some before freezing. What is a good temp for this procedure? SWIM lives in an apt., doesnt want a strong naphtha smell but is also patient. A few days passed but no evap. from room temperature.

2nd extraction worked as planned. Snowglobe, solution was decanted onto coffee filter but most spice stayed inside. Slightly off white. Not impatient but curious, how bad is smoking a non washed, non reXed spice straight from a freeze precip? As a low dose 25mg cherry popper?

Not sure how much this helps, maybe a tip. Not only was the lye/MHRB/NP solution heated, a blow dryer was also used to keep the solution heated while the NP moves back into position after being poured into the sep. funnel.
 
If the air in the room is to still it won't evap very fast. a fan speeds this up

If you dry your spice out long enough, and make sure there's no naptha residue you should be able to smoke it. alot of people prefer to wash it once though.
 
The blow dryer is unnecessary unless your extracting in sub-zero ambient temperature!
How much is "too much" on that 1st pull? In SWIM's experience, up to 4L of naphtha can be FPed - just be sure the freezer is COLD!, and give it 24 hours.
Noman's TEK is great - she got >1% yield, all said and done. Not a record breaker, but good. 5 pulls at least.
IF SWIY is confident in his previous water wash and MgSO4 dry, then slightly off white is fine - when dried COMPLETELY and it smells of indole, not solvent.

Re-xing is fun and gives a purer product.
Do not under-estimate 25mg.
SWIM found a threshold at ~10 mg then went to 20. She was glad she took this step-wise approach. Not the only way to go, just for her it was good.

As for temperature to evap, well anything under, say, 80 degrees celcius should be fine (please no open fire!), but the more temperature the more it will stink, its hard to say what is the right temperature because it depends on air circulation in your place. Cant you evap next to a window with a fan turned towards it? Or with the kitchen exhaust?
 
Thanks for the replies. SWIM will probably evap 1st pull under slight heat using a window and fan. Only a standard freezer is available and isn't quite THAT cold.
Weight of 2nd pull was only .06g from 67 grams MHRB using 25mL of naphtha. Seems disappointing! Only a digital scale with .01 gram precision available though.
 
Are you evapping in a dish with large surface area (like a lasagna dish)? If you are trying to evap using the jar, it will take eons.

.06 seems very low. What kind of MHRB did you use? If you care to go over your tek, we may uncover the culprit. From 67 grams of good powdered MHRB you should get a little over 1/2 gram of spice, at the minimum .25 g. Let's hope the rest of it is sitting in that first naptha pull.
 
Thanks man. 500mg for just one pull, or the entire MHRB? SWIM got powdered version from a highly distributed recommended site, advertised by members from this site. SWIM noticed on the first pull the naphtha seperated very easily even after shaking. Is this typical for the 1st pull? 2nd pull was a little slower to seperate, even from end over ending the solution.

Also did a 3rd pull with a carbonate wash, but some carbonate ended up in the freeze precip naptha and formed in a neat pile at the bottom of the jar, but otherwise spice looks even smaller yield than 2nd pull.

About the evap dish. No, SWIM is using only a jar, will switch to a more panned out surface.
