ok so swim just recently did a simple stb extraction with lye and naptha. swims root bark was freshly harvested but was not powerd just really shreded some powder. he let sit 24 hours breaking up and a day and a half in naphtha. wen evaped left with this yellow goo really sticky no crystals. foaf took precip jar out of freezer and let crystals disolve so swim just evaped. what is this goo what should i do? also i saw a tek that used the same general concept but with alot less water. just enough to soak the bark also using lime instead of lye. can either be replacable and minimal water better? also whats the best way to powder bark

You need to be more specific and tell us EXACTLY how you did everything. Without any details no one will be able to help you.
You do understand that you need to put the naphtha into the rootbark/lye/water solution, and that you have to mix all the naphtha in to the solution so there is no visible seperation, then let it seperate, then repeat as many times as you like before pulling the solvent and precipitating the crystals?
You can't just let the solvent sit there on top of the rb/lye/water solution and expect much of anything to make it into the solvent.
Usually the problem with the STB teks is either not enough lye, or not enough water. But if you followed the 1/1/15 ratio then you shouldn't have problems. You do need to understand how the naphtha works and how it is used to obtain the spice from the solution though.

You can re-x the yellow goo by using the smallest amount of warm naptha you can to get all the spice to dissolve. Then freeze and if there is any decent amt of spice in there it will precip out as crystals.
