STB Noman tek+revisions 1st time

Migrated topic.

So SWIM said he wanted to try stb before a/b. He noted that Noman had revisions especially when using powdered. To avoid emulsions he followed nomads advise and upped the water/NaOH ratio. He said he noticed you could furiously shake the contents of the jug up between pulls with no adverse effects (emulsions, ect.) and that the solution was very watery and not at all sludgy. Actually with this ratio he said he concluded the solution at this ratio would more than likely pass through a separatory funnel (if one chose to do so) unlike most stb solutions.

Things are looking good thus far using the following method:

100g mhrb
2.78l distilled H2O
170g lye

100ml naptha pulls

Will update tomorrow with results before recrystallization.

Thanks

I talked to SWIM again today and he said his yields were:

Pulls

1st 200-300mg
2nd/3rd 400mg-500mg

So total 600-800mg from 3 pulls plus a few specs from a 4th warm pull.

How is that for noman's tek?

Sounds like a great result!

I've got my 100g's of MHRB to extract still so hopefully i can do as well as you!

You should have plenty for some serious space travel

SWIM says he would also like to report the 4th pull has been in the freezer for around 48 hours and a decent amount has fell out, although the solution is noticeably more yellow. The 3rd and 4th pulls were both heated in a hot water bath. The first three pulls were very white, the 3rd being a little more off-white but still not considered yellow in comparison to other spice, and the fourth looks to be more yellow than the third.

Seems like like an excessive amount of lye, no?

I mean, 100g MHRB/170g lye?

Well, because the amount of water used was increased and SWIM was looking for an initial PH of 13, the amount of lye added had to be increased to basify the water to PH 13. Yes, that is a lot of lye but SWIM says he didn't have to worry at all about emulsions forming because the solution was very watery and he really believes this increase in surface area, along with being able to shake more vigorously without worry, really helped to pull more from the solution.

Thanks
