Good day everyone. I'm wondering what adjustments would need to be made to an STB extraction so that dry EtOH could be used in place of H2O. Would the solubility of DMT FB in dry EtOH prevent extraction with a NP solvent? If so, would the addition of NaOH saturated EtOH make a difference? If not, would bubbling dry HCl gas through the solution cause DMT HCl to precipitate?

You cannot use alcohol in place of water, sure dmt would be soluble in it, plus it also mixes with the np solvent.
Also I think you shouldnt be bubbling HCl gas if you dont know exactly what you're doing, and I am supposing by the questions you are asking that you do not have a firm grasp on the process you are doing. DMT HCl will not be crystals, its a goo.
Why dont you just use water and a solvent and first learn the basic extraction before thinking of exploring different means ?

I've already done the extraction. I decided to do some experimentation, and now I have a solution of impure alkaloid in ethanol. I figured a procedure analogous to STB extraction might work to get it back out without having to resort to evaporating the solvent and starting over.

Doing experimentation without knowing what you are doing is recipe for disaster. Please considering getting more informed next time.
If you have impure solution in ethanol, evaporate the ethanol, and proceed to purify whatever is left by redissolving in water, basing and re-extracting with NP..

Gotcha. I read somewhere that ethyl acetate could be used for recrystallization, but neglected to realize that ethanol and acetic acid don't condense spontaneously like some esters. The byproduct being water, how was I to know if it worked or not?

Hell knows what you're trying to do here. How did you end up with the impure dmt in ethanol? Also, if you mixed acetic acid and ethanol as they are to get ethyl acetate, well, it doesn't form this way. Plus, ethyl acetate is not good at all for re-x since it dissolves dmt very well.
