This seems like the best place to ask a Stir Plate question, move it if there is a better place please Mods.

If i was wanting a stir plate to stir a 2 Litre Erlenmeyer flask with Based MHRB gloop in it what would you recommend buying in the UK for the minimum amount of money?
I've got about a 50-60mm stir bar left from my old Homebrewing days.

Thanks

I can't speak to in UK aspect but if only needing the stir function there are sub €50 options. Some are larger than others in their footprint / plate size. Some will call out a rated liter capacity. If your mixes that need stirred are consistently thick, then get one that's over rated like 3L for 1-2L.

I got a used Cimarec stiring hot plate for €105 so that is a viable source if patient. Sometimes there are ones with a stir plate error code that can be fixed by disassembly and manual rotation of the mechanism. Though those are a gamble in case that simple fix does not recitfy the issue.

Brewing is a common hobby I see used products consistently in my area, though can't say stir hot plates being a common item in the lots.

I was looking at ones that say they stir 3L, some have a very small size top surface, I'll keep my eye out. I'm doing this as a way to simplify things a little and see if i can add a bit of extra consistency to extractions. And be a bit like 'set & forget'.

The Homebrew thing; stir bars, flasks and stir plates get used for growing yeast up to a suitable size to pitch into beer so you have a good and full fermentation.
