been contemplating a magnetic stirrer/hot plate but then today this happened!

Congrats on your invention. Though you haven’t told us what you will be using it for. Is it made to mix the ingredients for a cake, pancakes, creppes, ohmlettes, pudding, mayonaise? It’s an important detail. Cause if you thought about using this during a dmt extraction, well, it was a bad idea... should’ve call it the worst, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.
The reason I’m saying your idea is not safe is because your electrical tool/equipment uses sparks in order to function. Not only are those sparks visible through the end of the unit while powering it on, they could very easily ignite your solvent while mixing it, more so if splats or unwanted drops take place while bursting that machine. Please be careful and think of your own safety before attempting to employ this method. This is not even by far a mag stirrer, or even as safe.
Also, that plastic tape doesn’t look to good over there either. That will unstick and fall off at the first solvent contact, not to mention what high corrosive basic solution would do to it, the stuff that would leach out of it and so on...
I advise against using it, totally, in extractions and look for safer methods.. the list of reasons could go on..
Sometimes you have to let people be wrong.Northerner said:ah, there's always a naysayer
True all, I just have a pretty hard fast rule when it comes to possible ignition sources and flammable solvents. Mostly because I'm very clumsy and also cannot divine when Murphy's law will come into effect. With my luck, there would be a splash, a little flame, then I'd drop something and it would break spilling stuff all over and then the whole world is on fire.dnbjunkie1337 said:when working with solvents i always have a fan blowing across my workspace to quickly dissipate any fumes and work in an extremely well ventilated area. Not sure about the drill sparking because i havent seen any but if it did it would be a very slim chance of ignition with the cross breeze and the small amount of solvent i am working with. the main use is during the a/b phase. no one said u gotta use it for pulling.
True that. Mechanical stirring is always the go-to in these types of situations.Ulim said:Hotplates arent as fancy as ppl think often.
For example they are utter trash to mix anything that has a consistency of anything more viscous than oil and they also suck for solids in suspension.
