SV’s Happy Tummy Energy Potion Recipe

Nexus family!! This little beverage concoction has helped me to finally cut nasty energy drinks like Red Bull out of my diet, and has been my caffeine daily-driver for a good percentage of the past six months. In addition to giving the peppy I need in my steppy, it makes my gut feel healthy/happy/at ease all day long! I recommend sipping this beverage over the span of a few hours, and ideally keeping it cool throughout.

You can change the juices (or tea, really) to suit your fancy and change the flavor or caffeine level; really and truly you can make this whatever you want! Use my recipe as a spring board for your culinary and potion-brewing creativity!!

SV’s Happy-tummy Energy Potion
  1. begin by brewing a full French press of your desired tea. I choose Yerba mate - brewing 4 generous tablespoons to one full French press (about 900ml) of boiling water. If using yerba, be sure to dampen the leaves with cool water before adding the boiling water to prevent scorching the leaves. This provides a smoother and less bitter taste. I usually brew for 9 minutes.
  2. Transfer tea to a mason jar to cool. I will typically repeat the brew when I have time, resulting in 3x 1000ml mason jars, each containing 600ml tea (1800ml tea in total). Add 1-4 tsp (your taste) honey to each jar of tea while it is still hot. Set aside to cool in the fridge.
  3. Once cool, take one 600ml jar from the fridge. The rest of the recipe is for adding the mixers to one jar. Repeat as needed for each jar. I suggest adding the other juices and garnishes the day you wish to consume the beverage for maximum freshness:
  4. add 1/4 fresh lime (or lemon, or both, other fruit is okay too) and 1-4 sprigs of cilantro (or mint, or any herb you like: optional, to taste), and 3 blueberries.
  5. Add 150ml fresh limeade (we use store bought) and 100ml fresh blueberry lemonade (again store bought, just be sure it’s REAL juice). You can adjust the juice/tea ratio to suit your taste. You can also use totally different fruits and fruit juices.
  6. Add 50-100ml fresh ginger juice (I make my own from fresh ginger root).
  7. Cap jar and shake well.
  8. 1 “finished” jar (600ml tea + juices) = 1 serving. Again, I suggest keeping the beverage cold and sipping it over a few hours!!
  9. Enjoy! 😎 🌴🧃
Again, the entire recipe can be adjusted to your taste. Use it as a spring board!! The fresh garnishes give the mixture tremendous flavor and a healthy pop of color and vitality that makes you feel healthy and alive after drinking!! My chosen combination of citrus and ginger is both scientifically and subjectively soothing to my stomach, so I keep rocking with my chosen juices. If you dig the recipe and try it out, let me know!!

Big love 🤍

Lovely concoction! However, as an avid yerba enjoyer, I have to ask - why go to the bother of pre-soaking the yerba to avoid burning it when you can just not get your water to boiling? You can achieve better results (even better taste and absolutely no burning of anything in the yerba) if you just get your water to 80C (176F) and you don't even need to pre-soak. Less time, less energy, less hassle. Unless you don't have an easy way of getting water to that temperature, of course.

Thanks for sharing this <3

Seems like a wonderful idea! I am not using a kettle with a thermometer - a simple stove top style one is what I’ve got going on. Yes - your way seems better and will give a more consistent result for sure 🤍

Thanks for adding your two cents ☺️
