Swim smoked DMT fumarate.. what happened???

So swim decided to convert a gram into the fumarate salt. He knows the molecular weight is more than the freebase so he added a good 30mg to his piece and began to attempt to vaporize. Now this is where it got weird. Swim FELT the physical intensity of DMT, as I suspect one would with (5-meo) however swim never tried 5-meo and has no interest in trying it but from what he read thats all he felt. After Five Minutes he was disappointed he was not provided with the beauty freebase provided. He then added 30mg of freebase and was thrown into a very very intense trip where everything appeared to be a painting. His furniture, all very different looking than he would normally see of n,n freebase.

So.. is swim correct in his assumption that DMT fumarate is active when smoked but possibly takes a little longer to produce visuals that are discernible from the freebase?

Swim has read reports of people consuming this fumarate salt orally without the aid of a MAOI and getting effects.. is this accurate?

What was swiy experience with smoking the fumarate salt and how much?

I don't think you can ingest the fumarate without an MAOI. People often convert it however because it tends to make users less nauseous than the freebase when taken orally
 
I think the route of smoking bypasses MAOI regardless of salt. So the chemical should be getting into your body and into your blood stream quite effectively. But gobalswg is correct in that salting does not make it orally active (but does make it absorb faster / more efficiently in the presence of MAOIs). One possible (likely?) reason it produces bodily, physical effects is it is now likely too large / bulky to pass the blood brain barrier effectively. None of the good stuff can happen if it can't get in to work its' magic. I know some of the DMT salts work well smoked but am unsure about the fumarate.

Also applying heat to the fumarate salt (or any salted alkaloid for smoking) gives a higher chance of burning (not to mention unpleasant / harsh byproducts from the fumaric acid) rather than vaporizing for the freebase. So you might have ingested a lot of destroyed DMT in your attempts if you didn't heat it very slowly and effectively. This would also reduce the vast majority of effects and possibly cause the DMT to pyrolize into something that is still active but not mentally so.
 
Im not sure if fumarate can be smoked. Either it can but its innefective/more chances of burning, or you cant. Either way, better convert to freebase before smoking

And no,pure dmt, in whatever form, is not active when ingested without MAOI
