I'll tell you this much: NaBH₄ is not the right reducing agent for this reaction. Keep studying chemistry a while longer before having another stab at synthesis.

It releases both hydrogen cyanide and hydrogen gas on contact with acid, so it is extremely hazardous, as well as, I suspect, watched. It is not a trivial substance to be handling, in any case.

Please be careful. It is best to keep things as simple as possible. There are many tried and true extraction paths in the wiki. No need to make things into a complex synthesis when we can easily and safely extract from plants. Our Mother Nature has gifted us high percentage (1-2+%) DMT plants.

I want everyone here to stay alive, stay safe, stay free, stay happy, stay high for many decades to come.

I remember posting a methyl tosylate + ethanolamine method, and it was still removed, despite nothing being watched or dangerous.

I guess the rule behind the rule is: the average Nexus visitor is simply not equipped to do synthetic chemistry and remain legally and physically safe. Also, the site is way too popular to be teaching people how to make DMT in commercial/bulk (not personal) quantities.
