Hello.

I had a pretty basic question Im sure can be cleared up rather easily. I saw on a post here synthesis talk is frowned upon. In a nuttshell, how would you describe the difference between the two and why is talk of synthesis frowned upon and extractions arent? What am I missing here. Thanks

Synthesis talk is not allowed when it deals with watched or dangerous chemicals or reactions, and when they are for commercial purposes. We allow talk of simple synthesis such as harmaline to THH, or reduction of DMT n-oxide to DMT, since they don`t fit that negative criteria.

Synthesis is the creation of a new molecule that wasn`t there in the first place, while extraction just separates the molecule(s) that has been already synthesized by the plant you are extracting from.

We also have guidelines for extraction talk, for example no talk of commercial extractions, unsafe settings and proceedures, etc.

It is all for obvious safety reasons.

You can check this in the attitude page:

Hope that helps

I really have no idea why it is made such a big deal about synthesis or extraction. They are both illegal but I guess writing on how to synthesize is more illegal!?
You're missing the point a bit; it is not about synthesis being "more illegal". Please read endlessness' explanatory post above.

Thanks endless, that makes sense. That explination alone opens up a book of questions I'd like to know about synthesis. It sounds like a step shy of alchemy. Ill check out a thh tech and see if I can figure out whats happening in there.

That was kind of my thinking trav. What got me wondering was a show I saw about e production and now that its been mentioned the "lab" did have a boatload of tanks, chems etc. I can see how that could become a problem.

fixed.

chemists don't create anything, they transform.

Some of the chemicals involved are listed in the Toxic Substances Control Act
in the US, and attempting to purchase them as a private individual
may alert the "authorities".
