So swim has seen all the other harmala and harmaline extraction tecks which generally use salt and stuff that swim is unfamiliar with and don't feal comfortable using, so swim was wondering since the active ingredients in syrian rue are infact alkaloids then why cant swim do a simple acid base extraction using the same materials used for a spice extraction from mhrb. Such as grinding the rue seeds, boiling in acidic water, filtering pulp, basifing with NaOH, then simply extracting with non-polar solvents like toluene and evaporating in a dish, then would one not get pure crystals from such. The reason swim asks is because swim wanted to smoke some of the rue alkaloids together with spice to see how well it works for future reference and possibly try the oral route.

Thank you in advance:wink:

This caapi extraction TEK works very nicely with rue. It yields a full spectrum of alkaloids, so you may want to do a Manske (salt) extraction on the final result if you don’t want vasicine and related alkaloids in your product.

I’ve found that grinding rue seeds is completely unnecessary. Just use whole seeds – five 45 minute boils with a splash of vinegar in each, then reduce. Simple.

no need for nps

If you don't perform a manske at some point in the extraction process (use salt to precipitate out the harmala alks) your a/b yields various alkaloids that are not harmalas in addition to harmalas, skewing your yield with abortifacient alkaloids

My experience contradicts gibran's...ground seeds yield more than whole seeds, ime

The freebase just crashes out, so as others have said, no need for NPS.

The way I get quite clean alkaloids is a Manske extraction followed by a very small scale A/B. This results in tan/white alkaloids.

Doing it the other way around is even better in my opinion – A/B first, followed by Manske. You don’t have to deal with any filtering for the A/B and you have what is already a very clean product when you start the Manske.
