How do you do?

So I have my jar filled with 250ml of acidified water and alkaloids. The seeds have been filtered and thrown out and I have a deep yellowish solution.

How much should I reduce this 250ml by?

Should I filter repeatedly until the solution is clear or would that catch all of the good stuff?

How much salt should I use if I started with 20g of the seeds?

I hope you boiled 3x and not just once before discarding the seeds

You should filter many times now, yeah, in progressively finer filters (cloth, loose cotton plug in funnel, tight cotton in funnel, etc).. The more you do this the easier will be your life later on. What I do is just start adding excess salt and mixing, until I noticed there is some significant precipitation happening, and add some more salt just in case (its no problem adding excess, better than too little).

redissolve and refilter and reprecipitate again a few times for purity.. and better end with a freebase precipitation in the last time
 
right... I never knew I had to boil the seeds lol. I reckon the tek I was using was a cold water extraction, but its very basic and donen't go into much details.

As soon as I read that I dug the seeds out the bin, lucky I had them in a kitchen towel when they got binned.. so cheers for that man :)

Do we boil to release more alkaloids? I'm unsure. What should I do now... Maybe combine the yellow solution and seeds again and boil for x amount of time? I hope I aint messed this one up.

are the seeds grinded? grinding increases yield (but makes filtering more troublesome.. but its worth it imo)

no dont add to same water, add fresh acidified water to seeds and boil them for maybe 20 mins, and do this once more after, then combine liquids, filter reduce half or so, filter again, and then precipitate :)

Is the freebase step necessary?. I was thinking of just capping some with DMT fumurate.
 
I did grind them up real nice and then in between each filter My hand still hurts! The solution I have now is a deep yellow colour. I'll boil up the seeds a few times now and see if anymore alks come out.

Did you cap before fumarates/harmalas? I heard of people having trouble with absorption, usually people just dissolve in a bit of water/orange juice and drink it up. Basing will get you a muuuuuuuuuch cleaner product than just salt precipitating, which will have a lot of salt contamination too, so will screw off your dosages, will be very innacurate.. basing is very easy, just add some of sodium carbonate until it stops changing colour, and let it stand for a few hours and filter... remember the filtering for retrieving harmalas need to be done with coffee filter, as cloth/cotton plug are too coarse and you will lose your alks
 
Its better to basify then. I have the sodium carbonate here anyway.

I'll post back with the boiling results and take a picture of the two solutions.. they both look very diferent so far.
 
One last quick question, then I'm done :)

I have my final product filtering as I speak.. prolly just a couple ml to drip out and thats it.

Should I leave the precipitates to dry on the filter paper then scrape them off, or should I scrape them off whilst they are still wet and put onto an evaporating dish?

Looking forward to sampling the fruits of my labour hehe ;)

... also, could I use these harmalas to potinate a morning glory/LSA trip?
 
Its easy to get dried solids off lab paper because the pores are tiny but quite a bit harder to get it off coffee filters so scrape it off when its wet onto a glass plate or dish.

I ended up cutting the paper in two and letting one dry and scraping one wet. The wet half was much easier to scrape up and the dry hald ended up with tiny fibres that took an age to pick out lol.

Anyone know about the LSA and rue? I've had the seeds in the fridge for a good few days now.
