Temperature of heat bath

Hello! I’ve noticed a reoccurring thread in the tells where it calls for a heat bath and specifies to warm and not heat.

Could somebody smarter than me provide a temperature range so I can monitor and assure the temperature stays within range? For my peace of mind.

Also, what is the purpose of the heat baths during the different stages of A/B extraction?

I know you can do it st room temp, but it may result in a lower yield.

I want maximum yield, obviously.

yes, that interests me too. it is often rightly stated that in certain phases, such as the one where lye is used, higher temperatures are avoided for safety reasons. in the forums, others said that too high temperatures impure the spice, others said that the yellow spice caused by higher heat is of inferior quality, others deny this.
i am surprised that the gybs tek advises higher temperatures in violet steps and the max ion tek advises against it ? if i have read the instructions correctly . a forum member has written that he has as a rule of thumb that he never goes above 80 degrees celsius . now i have also read somewhere here that some use a pressure cooker for the beginning to cook more heat , i am confused ;) what now , rather less heat or more ?

Too hot can increase solubility of impurities in your non polar solvent. Ideally IMO solution should be as cool as possible while still being warm enough for the alkaloids to dissolve. There's no need to apply extra heat unless you have emulsions which won't break. At least, if you are looking for the 'cleanest' DMT extract, this would be my advice. If you desire other plant stuff in there, then I would still avoid high heat, and swap out naptha with something like xylene, toluene or DCM.

Heat bath is a measure for getting rid of emulsions.. if you don't have any then I'd skip that step.

I just did my 1st extractions and wondered about the temps too. Cyb said to keep it cool enough to hold the bottle, which I guessed to be under 160 f / 71 c. Yield's seemed good considering I'm a beginner, 2%+
