Post #110 on this page of the “Recommendations for a torch lighter with GVG?” thread mentions lighters available on eBay that look suspiciously like the Arc. (search eBay for "Ergonomic Butane Jet Torch" )

The deal is for 3 lighters for about $30 plus postage, for a total cost of about $39, or $13 each! Sounded almost too good to be true, but I couldn’t resist ordering. Here’s what I said in post #111:

My arc recently died after I used it for a couple of months... Since I really liked its design, I was about to get a new one but tought it was a bit expensive. After looking on the net for an alternative, I found out on ebay that they have something that looks exactly like the Arc but isnt sold as such for a cheaper price. Just got them today and it seems like they work exactly like the Arc.

So here it is if you wanna pay less for a good torch... :)

3 New Ergonomic Butane Jet Torch Cigarette Lighter Gift | eBay
I ordered those lighters the same day you made this post, and got them today. As far as I can tell, they are identical to the Arc.

In the attached photo, one of the lighters is my trusty Arc, the other is one of the eBay lighters.
Anyhow, they look identical.

They both weigh the same (113g, filled). The switch is identical, the flame is identical. Identical in every way. Except for price: $40+ for the Arc when shipped to the US. $13 each for the eBay lighters. So now I have 4 “Arcs”.

Nice find!

Yeah, guess starting a thread about it is the way to go (good info needs to be shared)

I opened up my arc and broke it before I bought those copy (not sure if they are copy or made by the same manufacturer). It's a pretty simple object to make and I guess you are paying for the design when you are paying 40$ for an Arc. Those 3 lighters for the same price as one Arc is definitely a good deal!

My favorite lighter ever, now 1/3 of the regular price.

My bet is that they are made by the same manufacturer. In other words, they’re the same lighter. I could be wrong, but the identical appearance, weight, and operation makes me think they’re not knock-offs.

thank you for letting us know about it ChaoticMethod, and Gibran!!:d

damn, TurboFlame be hustlin big time!

you should include the brand name for this other "Arc" lighter (which is "Ergonomic Butane Jet Torch" ) in the OP, so that people can still look it up after the ebay posting times-out and gets deleted.

thanks for sharing:) china and ebay ftw!:d

These super cheap torch lighters can be found in most tobacco stores or chinese dollar stores here. They are really NOT worth the investment, even if they are that cheap. First of all, the flame can often be way too strong (and there's no way to regulate it). Since you dont want to break your GVG with a too-strong flame, please be careful. Secondly, they WILL break very easily, I've had some last from a few days to a couple of weeks. Thirdly, they are VERY unreliable. They may work well the first hour or day or two, but soon enough you will start clicking them to turn on and they wont, and maybe you'll have to do it 10 times before they do, or shake it, or pray for the lighter gods (and imagine how frustrating if you have taken your first dmt hit and just need that second final hit to finally breakthrough, and it fails on you).

But, since you already bought it, feel free to review it to us once it arrived. I hope you have found a unique amazing cheap good lighter, though I doubt it :)

PS, this is aimed at poster above, not at the arc clone

I don’t believe that the Arc “clone” is a clone. I think it is the same lighter made by the same manufacturer, and then sold under a variety of brand names.

Wow..... thanks so much for sharing this. Not that there is anything wrong with my arc at the moment but I had to jump on this when I read about it. I was already thinking about ordering a back up to have just incase. Now it looks like I'll have three back up lighters for the price of one!

Just got mine in the mail today! I've gotta say these lighters are spot on replicas of the real thing. The one and only difference I noticed is when you look at the bottom near the refill hole. On my original Arc there is the turboflame logo with the registered trademark next to it. On these lighters there is a sticker in its place that says made in China instead.
I guess like Gibran said its probably the same original manufacturer as every other aspect is identical.
Definitely a good find!

I ordered one and it came today. Theres a made in china sticker on the bottom and it died within 5 minutes. Yet another made in china POS? -_-
