The Eight-Circuit Brain by Antero Alli

Ever since an epic 2c-e trip that left me disillusioned I began looking for ways to understand myself better. I soon ran across the 8-circuit model of consciousness and found that I really resonated with what it represented. The idea comes from the mind of Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson soon dug into it a bit more with his Prometheus Rising, then a not-so-known person Antero Alli writes a book on the direct application of the model in Angel Tech. Angel Tech has been a savior for me, no book I have ever read has so much useful and interesting. It's like a toolbox for your mind. It has been by my side for over a year and I am still learning from it. Antero Alli is the only living person making contributions to the 8-circuit model and he is brilliant.

I just wanted to recommend a book to you all that Antero Alli just released last October. It is called "The Eight-Circuit Brain: Navigational Strategies for the Energetic Body" and it just digs into the 8-circuit model even deeper. This in combination with Angel Tech is the best manual for the human body I have come across to date. Highly recommended to any bookworms out there. Currently I don't think you can get it off the internet for free (Angel Tech is out there) but if you bought it for the $25 he's asking, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I came across the 8 circuit brain model online somewhere and thought it was sorta interesting.

Then i read prometheus rising :shock:..my mind flopped outta my skull
Wilson was really something...If you haven't read cosmic trigger yet..wait..i mean if ANY of you haven't read his stuff yet..get on that!

Angel tech was also brilliant, i'm reading like 4 books right now and i'm picking at it a little at a time every so often..Its nice to hear a good review of Antero's new book. I haven't heard much about it but i'll surely be pickin it up soon. I'm very curious to see what he's put together on this.

Cosmic Trigger I just finished about 2-3 weeks ago, very hard book to put down once you get going. Highly recommend to you all also :) Now I just think about Sirians when people talk about alien entities. I still have yet to read Prometheus Rising fully, I skimmed through it a while back but never sat down and read it from start to finish.
And that left in the Dark looks very interesting, would you happen to know if there is any e-books available for it. I would love to have it on my Nook.
 
you know whats a real trip?..read exo-psychology: A manual on the use of the human nervous system according to the instructions of the manufacturers..it's by leary and covers the 8 calibur brain and then goes it lots of other weird stuff..n he wrote it all while in prison!

I think they changed the name later..i have the first printing of it from 1977..prob need to fnd it used..think its rare..but very very strange.
 
I think the name of that one was changed to info-psychology? not sure though..I haven't gotten to much of Leary's stuff yet but thats on the list.

I'm not sure about any Left in the Dark Ebooks, i haven't seen any. I seriously would have paid double the amount for this book though because I think its that great. It also really sheds some new light on the 8 circuit brain model in terms of the left/right hemispheric functions that resonates beautifully with leary n the gangs ideas.

Here's a nice snippet of a review that gives you a small idea of the theory in it:

It still astonishes me how like-minded I am with other people here. Info-psychology was actually the book I started after finishing Cosmic Trigger, it is definitely been an interesting and far-out read so far. It can be hard to follow Leary sometimes with his own terminology he has come up with, especially when he puts together like 3 or 4 words he has his own personal meanings for. Fun read nonetheless.

Left in the Dark is something I will definitely be picking up if I can't find an e-book. Thanks :)
 
What's so great about leary's eight circuit model? I found it to be indecipherable nonsense that didn't really resonate with me at all. But, im open to suggestions.

Shoe, I suggest the great Robert Anton Wilson's Prometheus Rising, make sure to do the exercizes as well as read it if you're interested. Given your interest in self-help and magic I bet you'll dig it, and it gives a very practical and experientially based intro to the 8 circuit model.

it's just a theory about intangibles, not really testable by any means; amusing at best.

Disagreed. It's not publicly testable, but it's privately testable within the laboratory of oneself. I find it useful for the simple idea that the brain operates on certain "circuits", like gears on a bike. It incorporates and expands on previous models of consciousness (Freud, Sagan, Lorenz's imprinting etc), and in Prometheus Rising, Robert Anton Wilson gives exercizes for "activating" each circuit, to test and internalize the ideas presented about each circuit. I've found it tremendously useful in understanding my own behavior/experiences and those of others, and find it hard to believe that someone who's worked through a book like PR and done the exercizes could say otherwise; unless of course that person has a very heavy imprint in one area and can't "get off" that circuit. For example Rationalists (3rd circuit dominant types according to this model) tend to find this model very un-useful.

It can also be looked at as an archetypal model for various states of being, externally induced or otherwise. Are there any other 8-circuit model fans here?

I agree with you lysergify.You really have to spend some time with yourself to figure out the metaphor. To me the model represents the multidimensional realities existing within myself. The first four survival circuits are the ones we usually roam the earth on the most. I have found that if I "monitor" them and act accordingly to satisfy their needs my life is MUCH more balanced. Now, though it would be great, you can't pick up Prometheus Rising, Angel Tech, or any other book on the model and expect to understand it after one reading. These books are VERY dense with information and are intended to be read slowly. Each paragraph in Angel Tech is so saturated with info that I can only read a few before I start to loose the magic within. Angel Tech demands a lot and I bet most of you will not get how deep Antero really is when you first pick it up. When I first discovered the model I didn't spend the time and try to figure out what the circuits represented within my own body so it ended up as a fun armchair philosophy. It wasn't until my mind blew out and finally realized the model represents so much more than what we can think that it finally started working for me. It is a great tool for increasing your intelligence as it views the brain as having eight different brains coexisting with each other right here right now. For those who put the time into it, you will get results. "Believe me. But don't Believe me."

Oh and, Antero has got a class on this model coming up for those interested. I did the course last year around this time and it's really great if you want to use the model in your life. Antero is 100% hands on. The 8-Circuit Brain: Lecture by Antero Alli
