The Key V2 question

Since I'm still set as a new member I can't ask this in The Key thread.

I built the The Key vap attachment and have tried vapping some magic. Since this is my first time trying it, I'm not sure if what I smell/taste is the magic or if its this assembly. Two parts of the assembly are brass but the adapter I have is steel or something and when the BIC/butane hits it, I get soot which makes me wonder if the taste I'm getting is from this. Pic attached.

I at least know it works since I got a decent buzz, but this 'taste' lingers. I can't place the smell/taste but its something I've encountered before.

do you get the soot from both a torch and a bic lighter?

When I made the key I got all brass parts and it was ok, it never tasted odd. If your burning your magic then its a plasticy taste and it kind of burns the lips.

If I was you I would just infuse your magic into some herb/leaf and just blaze it in a bong, infused leaf is fool proof.

I believe you're supposed to wash the parts (in acetone?) and heat-treat them (torch or oven?)...did you maybe forget to do that?

I washed in hexane and stuck them directly on my gas burner for a while (no oven).

I don't have a torch yet, but will probably get one. I can't seem to find a replacement brass part, though I do see a carbon steel part that might have more luck. My brass pieces have pretty much no soot.

Actually I think the thing I'm tasting IS magic. I went to do a bicarb wash on rest of the goo I had and when I took it out I smelled it all and I realized the goo smelled pretty similar to what the inside of the vapper smells like. I just wouldn't characterize it as "plastic." It smelled plastic-y when I burned some in my meth pipe but the stuff in the Key has almost a metally taste I would say. Its hard to place, thats why I thought it was the parts I was using.

Maybe when I can get some purer stuff I can be more sure.
