The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

Migrated topic.

Rising Star
I am not sure if there any Dan Brown fans other than myself, but you guys have got to read this book. The ideas in it are right up our alley, based on the discussions during and post hyperspace. While I know Dan Brown ofter twists the historic facts for his book, how he got these revelations is what I am interested in. It makes you think. Something any good book should do. Seriously, its worth your time and money. Just take a DMT users prospective on the religious ramifications and point of view.

This is amazing.

OMFG it talks about the pineal gland too. Holy shit. Its making me want to reread the bible. 2012 is all in here... This book is crazy. Give it a shot then then come back and discuss.

The book is a work of fiction. Don't take it seriously.

I take it no more seriously than I do people that post on a forum about tripping. I know the book is a work of fiction as is his other titles, but like the 3 books of his I have read, many of the things stated in his book are fact. It's not the facts I am referring to in his book, but the conclusion drawn based on opinions and ideas, add that with the information many have discussed here and you have something VERY important.

I don't have all the answers.

I actually find it shocking that people think I am arrogant for not believing in the 2012 myth. ? I don't really see why everyone is so hung up on this modern myth.

From everything I have researched on the topic is seems to have all the characteristics of a myth. Its just like astrology.

There are so many authors writing books and linking together science and pseudoscientific claims as if there is seriously something going on in deep space that is effecting our consciousness. I think its not only a waste of paper but also a waste of our minds and energy.

If you want to change or help the world get out and do something. If you think sitting around and waiting for an epoch in the stars to change our reality you are not helping anything.

This is EXACTLY why you should read this book. It is not about the stars, that is just part of it, its more about human THOUGHT and what happens to us all when we focus said thought together. 2012 was just one of the things thrown in there, but it really has no baring on the story or conclusions I have drawn because of it. Please give it a shot, then come back and we can talk.

I do myself not believe in some dates like 2012, but I have the feeling something is coming. It's a STRONG feeling and a lot of people can feel that too. You obviously don't. You believe in cold science but I believe in my feelings that have told me amazing truths just like science.

Well if people choose to sit and do nothing then it's their choice.
I choose not to. I'm active and I seek truth. Truth beyond the physical plane.

You sound very arrogant when you say it's all just a myth. It's not arrogance to say YOU think it's a myth, but saying IT IS a myth is arrogant when you can't prove so.
Yes maybe it's a myth but you absolutely close your mind to the possibility that there is any truth to it.
I find you narrow minded. Very stuck in the physical world.

So, has anyone else actually read the book yet? I am looking for some discussion about the end. If so, lets talk!

I picked it up last night and am 40 pages into it. Some interesting things already...its looking like he is incorporating a lot of things that I've come across in my vaious readings and truth seeking. Looking foward to see where it goes, he has certainly done a lot of research on secret societies, new physics and new age beliefs for this book.

Of course its a myth. It doesn't need to be proven we'll wait and see. Look at all the myths throughout history and this one pretty much has all the same characteristics.

Almost any human culture you can think of at one time or another looked to the stars and wondered "what are those". They began to notice patterns in the way the stars moved and how those patterns coincided with events such as the changing in season. They gave them funny names and noticed patterns of horses in them or gods or stories whatever. But that was all human beings giving names to stars and observing patterns. Eventually they started to associate them with gods. What a power trip for the priest class it must have been to have that kind of control over society.

Imagine being a priest who wanted to maintain their status. To maintain power you knew that every time this pattern comes in the sky its going to rain a lot (wet season). It would be so easy to convince people who did not have that knowledge that you had special powers to bring the rain and all you needed was a few virgins to slice open and rip their hearts out.

Now we know stars are giant balls of hydrogen gas acting like a fusion furnace. Now we have that knowledge. Now anyone can access knowledge about the stars and the climate with a few clicks of a button or a trip to the library. We can be free from such superstition and myth.

2012 is a modern myth.

The fact that people are making fiction stories about it already is pretty convincing.
