I agree on the 'DMT Quest Documentary'. Good watch!
But it was also full of this unnecessary graphics and stock photography. But I guess you need to have something moving :/

Maybe they are more useful for the layperson, who doesn't have an intermediate knowledge of human brain anatomy. Or like you said, just the need to have *something* going on during the narration.

An obscure and revealing documentary into the conciousness of plants..
"The secret life of plants"

Some transcribed quotes + commentary..

"The elements of my body are as one with the Infinite Cycle of Creation and all matter in the Universe. Chanting Ayurverdic Hymns of Creation, devote Hindus reaffirm each day their belief in the Unity of all existence."

… Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose.

"Through his Experiments, Bose also discovered that both Metals and Living Animal Tissue respond in a similar way to the Effects of Radiation. He postulated if the Continuity exists between such extremes as Metal and Living Animal Tissue, similar Effects should be present in the Plant Kingdom. Touching the Leaves of the Saptoica with a cotton soaked in Ether, Bose demonstrates the Fainting Response of the Plant. The object of his Future Experiments was to Prove through the design and use of highly specialized Machines that all of the Characteristic Responses exhibited by Animal Tissue are also to be found in Plants. But Bose’s Experiments were Denied Publication by the Royal Society. By daring to suggest that Plants have a Sensory System similar to Humans, Bose offended the Learned Members.”

I just watched that one on your recommendation, Seeingisbelieving. It was good; I really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing :)

The loveliest docu I've seen in awhile is "My Octopus Teacher". AFAIK it's currently only on Netflix.
That was my favorite movie I watched in the past year, great for anyone who feels the connectedness of all living things. It was truly touching.

Another one of my favorites I don't think anyone has mentioned is Into The Inferno available on netflix.
First off, Werner Herzog is involved so you already know its going to be good, but it studies volcanoes and their influence on cultures, mythologies, religions, and life. It has some breathtaking footage and really brings volcanoes to life in a very special way. Its one of those movies I can watch over and over again and never get bored.
