Hello there under-used area of the Forum.
I realise I keep bringing Yoga into my other posts so it would seem sensible to create a Yoga Practice Thread so we / I can get to read about what everyone does.
I think I'm about 3 years deep in doing Yoga classes now, which started as doing one class a week but its ballooned into me doing it at home and I get 4-6 sessions in each week and even if I've not got a full 40-60 min session done I've been doing some simple stretches for maybe 5-6 years which I rarely miss unless we've gone on holiday etc.
Mostly Hatha Yoga though it depends which teacher is taking the class, and it's perfect for making me feel out of place and uncomfortable because broadly speaking I'm a bloke in a room full of old ladies
I'm in my early 50's and I frequently seem to be the youngest there.
My home Yoga practice is done when I come home from work or on weekend mornings, morning sessions are always nice as it kinda sets you up for the day and feels like you've started the weekend the right way. I go through a relatively set flow at home to keep things simple and ease myself into everything gradually so I warm up well before striking too many poses. I tend to include some Goddess Squats / Horse Stance and also some various planking things for a bit of additional core strength, I work on my crow pose and head stands too along with L-sit holds with my fists on the floor.
I used to do more weights, Gym Rings and running machine but my back complains these days *Grumble grumble!* The gym rings are/were great for activating a load of muscle groups.
I'm definitely a dead-pan 'Resting Yoga Face', I'm sure I look grumpy in a class because i'm trying to shut my eyes or go internal as much as possible.
What do you do for keeping fit and active?
