Hello there under-used area of the Forum.

I realise I keep bringing Yoga into my other posts so it would seem sensible to create a Yoga Practice Thread so we / I can get to read about what everyone does.

I think I'm about 3 years deep in doing Yoga classes now, which started as doing one class a week but its ballooned into me doing it at home and I get 4-6 sessions in each week and even if I've not got a full 40-60 min session done I've been doing some simple stretches for maybe 5-6 years which I rarely miss unless we've gone on holiday etc.

Mostly Hatha Yoga though it depends which teacher is taking the class, and it's perfect for making me feel out of place and uncomfortable because broadly speaking I'm a bloke in a room full of old ladies :) I'm in my early 50's and I frequently seem to be the youngest there.

My home Yoga practice is done when I come home from work or on weekend mornings, morning sessions are always nice as it kinda sets you up for the day and feels like you've started the weekend the right way. I go through a relatively set flow at home to keep things simple and ease myself into everything gradually so I warm up well before striking too many poses. I tend to include some Goddess Squats / Horse Stance and also some various planking things for a bit of additional core strength, I work on my crow pose and head stands too along with L-sit holds with my fists on the floor.
I used to do more weights, Gym Rings and running machine but my back complains these days *Grumble grumble!* The gym rings are/were great for activating a load of muscle groups.

I'm definitely a dead-pan 'Resting Yoga Face', I'm sure I look grumpy in a class because i'm trying to shut my eyes or go internal as much as possible.

What do you do for keeping fit and active?

I tried Yoga before with a hit of DMT to start with but it kinda spoiled my Yoga and all I really did was stare at the pretty patterns.

I just tried a little again, with several 3 second tokes on the Vape and each time topped up when the light fractal CEV subsided, this was much nicer and I managed to do about a third of my Yoga session without distraction but with some added CEV body awareness (Not as much body awareness as Cannabis, Cannabis is body awareness feels).
Take a toke, set into a pose and kinda look at the body and ask it if the pose is good with a kinda visual of the body parts and flow within.

This might be worth some more subtle experimentation on a full Yoga session.

I like doing what I call changa yoga. Take a few hits, if I don't go too far, see stuff with my eyes closed and flow. It's something I really enjoy as it puts me in touch more with my body in a way that allows all dross to fall away for a time. It's really a beautiful thing. I also like using changa because it seems to allow one to retain more agency than the rambunctious nature of freebase DMT.

I am 37 and don't know how long I've been doing yoga. I remember taking the first class in high school, and I happened to be studying Vedic philosophy at the same time. So elements of yoga always stuck with me, so much so, that when I went to my first hot yoga class after mainly keeping to myself in my practice for many years, one of the teachers complimented me on how beautiful my practice was... it was odd to me because I never considered what I was doing yoga, because it was unconventional, and I didn't want to lay claim to something that I didn't think I earned. Her telling me that though was very confirming.

I am currently taking classes to become an instructor myself.

I have had to greatly shift my flow because of some chronic pain. Hopefully I'll get back to where I was with fun inversions, backbends and weird things like a low arm under the leg lunge into an extension of the front leg in the air held by one hand (so only one leg and one hand are on the mat), granted, it's certainly not a traditional yoga movement.

Good stuff.
More advanced than myself, the most adventurous I get is a head stand and a crow.
Yoga for me is a mix of keeping myself from physically breaking with the bonus of personal development. 😁
I'm just an intense person and move my body intensely, a lot of it catharsis. I am also a little neurotic about movement, and want to always be able to move in fluid ways.

Yoga is such a wonderul practice because we can all make it our own.

I was thinking of starting a thread like this myself recently, so very glad to see it pop up. I've also never even seen this part of the forum, or if I did, my brain just ignored it!
I've got a lot to say about this, so I'm going to write all about my experiences, and post it later today.
Just finished my practice this morning.
Ommmmmm
