I know its dirty at the moment, but i've cleaned it up real good and tested it on a number of occasions. When I first tried DMT, I used this pipe
and it gave me all the breakthroughs I would require; I explored a good deal with it. Nowadays though, I can't get the bugger to work so I continually revert to an open top borosilicate glass 'hammer', But i know pure vaporisation is better on my lungs. Any help would be appreciated!

have u tried just sticking a pinch of lye in there with some water and swirling it around ?

Maybe that might clean it abit better ???

Lye's not all too kind to glass. Also I wouldn't put lye in anything I was planning on putting my lips on at some point.

Clean it with acetone or IPA. Both are very effective at making things squeaky clean. Needless to say that if any of it is made of plastic then do not use acetone.

lye isnt going to destroy the glass in a measureable way. swim would use caution with the ground glass joints tho, it could possibly affect those(if anything). But this is not a reaction that happens quickly, also, the lye must be concentrated. swim has had 50% lye solution many times in swims glass, no problems..., and swim means hot solution for several hours...

either way just watch out with that shit, mainly, it WILL BLIND you if it gets in your eyes. In the ole days they would have windex type mixes with some lye in them, kids spraying them at each other, gets in someones eye. BAM BLINDED!

Dump a whole bunch of salt in there. Then add IPA and swish and shake.

Salt makes all the difference in cleaning my pipe. Gets the hard to get stuff.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I don't think a method of cleaning is the desired response to the OP.

Though I'm not sure what else could change a working pipe to a non-working one.

I think it's a user problem, not the pipe. Sometimes hyperspace is just closed for a period of time

Thanks for the warnings spaghettiman, but lye will not destroy glass, and I don't need a warning. But keep championing that flag the last thing the nexus needs is some blind home extractor fouling up the media.

@ DMTRipper: Its just, the spice will melt and vaporise but it doesn't give a strong enough hit to really blast through. I think SWIM should purify and rextalise his DMT before going back to this pipe.

I was just wondering if anyone has a simmelar type of pipe and whether theirs works O.K For this purpose.

Sodium hydroxide slowly reacts with glass to form sodium silicate, so glass joints and stopcocks exposed to NaOH have a tendency to "freeze". Flasks and glass-lined chemical reactors are damaged by long exposure to hot sodium hydroxide, and the glass becomes frosted.

Now that swim thinks back, this problem only really becomes an issue when you are working with molten NaOH. But, as stated above, delicate glasswork like ground glass joints(as on that pipe) can be affected in a meaningful way...

It is true that this is unlikely to be a problem for any of us.

personally, swims favorite glass cleaning technology is oxidizing acids like nitric acid. Nitric will fuck up pretty much anything, polymers, etc. with the exception of glass and teflon. It also helps that nitrate salts are generally very soluble. But yeah, that shit is nasty, likes to take off skin. at the very least turn it yellow for a while. *SWIM looks at the scars on his arm...*(lessons learned in adolescence)

As the proud owner of faaaaaar too much cannabis-oriented glassware, allow me to let you in on a secret. Oxy-clean and boiling water will clean anything off of/out of any glass device. I used to use alcohol and salt to clean my tubes/bubblers/pipes, but it was time consuming and involved. I still use IPA to clean my GVG and it works quite well. However, for everything else I use oxyclean as it's simple and uninvolved. Essentially, I sprinkle some oxyclean in each piece that I'm cleaning, boil some water in a tea kettle, pour the water into the piece (if its a pipe or bubbler I put the piece in a small tupperware so that it's soaking in boiling hot oxyclean water) and allow it to sit until its no longer reacting and/or the water has cooled off to a degree. After that, the piece just needs to be rinsed a few times to get all the remaining residue out. Hope this helps.

Just a thought about boiling glass, its probbaly better to boil it by starting out with the water at room temp and put the pipe in as the water heats up, sudden temp changes can shatter glass as we all know but often overlook as the odds are pretty low.

boiling is problematic. not only does boiling water not do much good over warm water, but the creation of bubbles always happened where the glass touches which makes the pipe rock around and hop up and down.

just use acetone. it would great. acetone with a particulate, squirt it thru using a pipette. or dlemonine. thats all 420cleaner is.

if its just amines wash it with naphtha.

ive never broken thru with any bulb style vape. i use a tiny one to test fresh xtals btu thats it.

Just a thought about boiling glass, its probbaly better to boil it by starting out with the water at room temp and put the pipe in as the water heats up, sudden temp changes can shatter glass as we all know but often overlook as the odds are pretty low.

That's the beauty of borosilicate glass...no need to worry about things of this nature, but yea, for "soft"-glass pieces, if you use boiling water at all, you're definitely going to want to gradually warm it up. Personally though, for non-scientific glass, I'd only use alcohol and salt (or maybe other solvents).

To my understanding you vaguely asked for help, not whether anyone has this pipe or similar.

Shoe: Is there a blockage stopping you from inhaling properly? Is there proper ventilation? People are saying to clean it because residue and built-up gunk is usually what stops airflow.
Infundibulum, whether Shoe asked specifically or not, it has been clarified in his post that he's cleaned it thoroughly and the problem isn't with dirtiness in the pipe. I think he was asking if anyone had a similar pipe in that particular post in the hopes that someone with another glass piece that no longer works could help him.

I really don't see the need for hostility on anyone's part.
Shoe just wants to smoke properly.

Having good access to all sorts of glassware swim experimented a lot with similar contraptions (small sep. funnels, all sorts of test tubes, etc.). None of them worked reliably.

Then she turned her attention to various sources of heat. This direction proved to be very fruitful. Swim thinks that a good source of heat is very important. A heat gun is the best. Using it you can vaporize your spice without the risk of overheating or igniting it even if you touch the spice directly. No need to use a ceramic filter like in GVG. Moving the gun back and forth lets you control the vapor flow to suit your lungs sensitivity. Works like charm with changa or straight spice. Since that discovery a small dry bong is all swim needs.

FYI -that is NOT a pipe in the photo at the top of this page. Although it could be used as one. It is a part of a micro distillation rig. It will be made of borosillicate glass, which is about as chemical resistant a glass as is available. You could use whatever chemical you want to clean it without fear of damage.
