THP question

Hey all,
so i might have used THP tek the other day with 35g of shredded caapi + 5.25L h2o. The first 2L of acidified water were a nice golden colour, but the remaining water came out the same as it went in, completely transparent.
Any ideas as to why this is? i cant see everything being extracted after 2l? should the material be powdered?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated

How finely shredded is the caapi? That could have something to do with it. The THP generally calls for powdered caapi, although I use shredded and get good results. Though I do hand-shred mine as finely as my patience will allow me to.

Other question-- how hot was the water you put through? You didn't mention heating it at all, if you didn't then that would be the problem right there. The water should be near-boiling.

ahh ok, it was shredded but not finely.
as for water temp, it was starting to bubble in the pot, so definitely hot enough.
