Time Capsule Project, long term storage.

Migrated topic.

So I don't even know where to begin. I am curious what the logistics of long term storage of DMT are? Not talking about months, but years. I am aware that temp, water, light, and oxygen can break things down. Would it be possible to have an extremely concentrated naptha solution (or some solvent with a higher "saturation level") burried 6 feet underground in your standard time capsule? What would the potential problem with this be?

I have had a bit of thought about long term underground storage too, my plan so far is:

• Store as DMT Fumarate.
• Split material to be stored into 2 or 3 lots for security.
• Add material to glass vials with oxygen scavenger material and dessicant. Seal.
• Add glass vials to stainless steel flasks along with more oxygen scavenger material and dessicant. Seal.
• Bury flasks in different locations.

I don’t know if I would go so far as to bury a whole 2 metres underground, I would be more inclined to maybe bury 50cm to 1m, I don’t know what is best personally though, maybe I am just thinking lazily.

Whether this is the best way to store for the long term I don’t know, hopefully others will be able to chime in and we can come up with a decent long term storage tek.

SWIM stores all of his alkaloids/rc's of questionable legality in a waterproof otterbox out in the woods somewhere. Small glass vials (amber), inside of a sealed plastic hardcase works very well imo, And desiccants/oxygen absorbers are a necessity. Stays very close to freezing round these parts in the winter, and in the summer, i just bury it where its almost always 60-70 F during the warmer months.

A very recommended way to store your goods, and protect against persecution in case your abode gets searched for any reason.

Have noticed no degradation, but everything in the box is either fumarate salts, or stable phenethylamines/4-ho triptamine salts. I figure its relatively heat buffered (winter/underground), no uv degradation, and oxygen/moisture absorbers as a second line of defense.

Otterboxes are great for this purpose, and come in many sizes in good prices imo. Also, they're completely waterproof, hell- you could tie one to a rock and throw it in a lake if you wanted.

Swim just loves the idea of a psychedelic time-capsule. And imagines coming back to his hometown years later, digging up his box, and having a good time.

Otterbox is genius, SWIM was thinking time capsules purchased off the interweb.... forget that, homemade version is way better. SWIM was also thinking a small passive RFID tag could be prudent because water can move objects underground pretty well, SWIM has heard of bodies being burried to shallow and coming up and by that same idea burried treasure disappearing.... a 5 foot migration in any direction over a few years translates into a very large search hole... not to mention geography changes etc

so the fumarate salt is super stable? Whats the term used to describe a molecules potential to breakdown without an external thing (heat, water, etc), i am talking purely its sensitivity to time in terms of breaking down?

i think the word is half life.... is that right?

I think the rate at which it degrades is related to how much o2,h2o,heat,radiation it receives. So theoretically, in a sealed gold container (radiation), gassed with nitrogen, completely dry and cold i think dmt fb would pretty much last many lifetimes.

So a degradation timeframe would prob be very variable in any given situation. But storing something cold, dark, dry, and devoid of o2 will prevent the known methods of degradation. I have a feeling that all that (nitrogen, etc.) is overkill for fumerate salts, but that's just my opinion. I would expect a airtight box not opened often, and buried would negligibly degrade the contents over a decade or more. But that's all speculation, and like, my opinion man .
