Timing question

How long after you basify your extraction should you wait and let the reaction take place before you add your non polar solvent?

I would think that adding the solvent would not do anything to stop or pause the reaction so theoretically you should be able to add solvent right after you add the base solution and turn it black.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

For A/B extraction a significant amount of the dmt should be already in the acidic solution, once basified it can be picked up immediately by the NPS.

For STB some time is required for the bark to break down and the dmt to be released into solution. Adding the NPS right after the base would not be helpful, the solution will be hot and the NPS will evap causing pressure buildup, it would just complicate things.
