To Freeze precip, or not ?

Hi all, I have just done some 'test' extractions on an unlikely candidate Acacia podalyriifolia, leaves and dried seed pods (2 extractions)... I have used 98% sodium hydroxide (1 lt distilled water with 75g Sodium Hydroxide for each 50gm plant material). I have some very clear 'shellite' and am letting it evap. My question is ,should I just let it sit and evap or should I do a freeze ? I know there is not much if any DMT in Podalyrilfolia but I would be happy with just a few mg's, this is really a test proceedure to get the technique right (safety and cleanliness), for a time when I can source better material.
Thanks in advance for any pointers. I have read extensively from the Nexus and have, i think, got it happening ! just short of the real deal MHRB.
I am so grateful for this site and maybe should have been more aware of Entheogens 20 years ago...but, its never too late ! I am ready to fly solo.

Holy moly I got something happening . I did a freeze and wow, something looking like crystals at the bottem of my pyrex jug. Im too scared to look ..I have a coffee filter ready, I need to know now 'how to clean my spice' oh im So exited ! Thank you so much you guys....... If I knew anyone who was into DMT I would be slapping 5's I know -I know, dont count your chickens but hey,,,,,, I will put some photos up...hang on. The dark patches at the bottem are show through from the concrete slab its on.... had to be quick. But its white as......snow

Congrats! Check the smell, bioassay with low doses, and let us know!

After retrieving the crystals you could evap it down further to a small fraction of current volume and freeze again, see if you can harvest more...

If you plan on making it a more frequent practice to extract/bioassay different plant alkaloids, I suggest looking into TLC for a home-made analysis method.

Mant thanks, unfortunately I must have allowed a small amount of water vapour from the freezer to get in..... I think my white crystals were just water, as they melted and evaped as soon as i removed them.

Second extraction (Leaves/phyllodes) is now 100ml or so 'yellow' liquid shellite. I will let evap then freeze... Fingers crossed
