I'm soooo glad we're back on the grid people! I will smoke some spice now to celebrate!!
It was too anonymous; anonymous does not like "big, publicly known and lucrative targets." You have a poor understanding of them.Pandora said:I laughed and laughed when I read this. Who do we imagine this is? Come on, it's not Annonymous - they like BIG, PUBLICLY KNOWN & LUCRATIVE targets.
Sounds like anonymous to me. For the lulz.Who do you think it is? Big Blue? LOL. Whoever it is is NOT thinking in terms of Endgame, strategy or tactics. They couldn't even think beyond rigid black/white thinking to see grey territory. Whatever the beef is, the response was reflexive - launch a DDOS attack.
They'll definitely get bored and move on. They'll never get a life. Also, you can't hide your IP when you DDOS, so every one of them "made a mistake".So, to state the glaringly obvious - here is what the endgame will be - one of these:
1.) Attacker will become bored over time and will move on. This is the "go away" scenario.
2.) Attacker will be defeated by Traveler's hard work and will move on. Also a "go away" scenario.
3.) Attacker will get a job, enlist in military, go to school, meet a nice girl (or boy) and will start to a.) not have time for such silliness and b.) realize that there are bigger (& smaller) much more important issues that require their attention. This is the "grow up" scenario.
4.) Attacker will make some sort of dumbass mistake (probably not in the cyber world, though possibly) and get arrested and their time/resources will become tied up with the legal system. This is the "go to jail" scenario.
All this stuff: serious business, just like the internet .Jin said:if this attack was just for the lulz
to the person or group resposible , all i would say is PURPOSE is ALL to each and every great man that lived on the planet , da vinci to einstein no-one did it for the lulz
i don't smoke spice for lulz i have a purpose , i don't surf this site for the lulz , this site is not about lulz , it has a purpose and that is harm reduction , providing correct information , bringing a community together that is seprated by distance , and other puposes which i still have not been able to think of , but we have a PURPOSE i am not here for the lulz
This just sounds a lil "nah nah nah nah boo boo" if ya know what I mean. There is no evidence to support the claim that anon was behind this afaik. If you'd like to present some, I'd love to see it. The insurgen.cc thread was about two years old and all the recent updates were from people talking about what a dumb idea it was. Additionally, if it was anon, they would have easily found some of the workarounds used to create our underground site; Trav said it would've taken him practically no time to locate us. Additionally, given the size of the botnet, combined with the general incompetence...it just doesn't fit anon, imo.Mercury_Hg said:It was too anonymous...Pandora said:I laughed and laughed when I read this. Why would the feds be here? Come on now...let's not let our paranoia run away with us. Free speech still exists, you can't be raided for something you posted on an internet forum without their being additional evidence to get a judge to sign a warrant. Most (if not all) of the individuals who have been busted and had links to internet sites were either major players involved in illegal activities (a la Psilocybe Fanaticus) or had their computers confiscated on the back end. When entire sites were targeted, it was because they were involved in illicit activities (like operation webTryp; which is one reason we have the guidelines in the attitude and enforce them to the best of our abilities).Godspark said:What if it really is the feds? Petty chan raids are anonymous. Anonymous is delocalized, and intangible.MySmelf said:No way it was anonymous. Why would they attack the NEXUS after they just took out Sony's PSN earlier that month. Don't you see the news? The Playstation Network was down from sometime in April to about May 3 and Anonymous claimed responsibility.
This attack was probably just some petty chan raid.
I doubt someone that "sophisticated" would've pursued something like this. It's entirely plausible, but I doubt it.Also if the attacker isn't a complete idiot and uses a botnet to DDoS, it doesn't matter if the IPs are logged and traced. They can control their botnets from behind a proxy. You don't DoS your target directly, you have your bot army do it!

Too lazy for blue color.

People that use botnets and the like are usually lowlifes just looking to screw someones day. I'm sure they were laughing their asses off the whole time, especially over the dumb edits to that insurgen site.
