Topical use of psilocybin and other entheogens.

Hello friend,

I have seen some studies where psilocybin prolonged cell lifespan in vitro and lifespan of a mouse that had psilocybin administered routinely.

Have any of you seen mentions of topical use, of psylocibin or other entheogens for other benefits? Have any of you tried it?

Is extraction of psylocibin or maoi into the oil possible?

A reference link for those studies would be great .

On a tangential kind of vein, cactus tea makes a good shower gel/skin care ointment, especially the more slimy stuff.

Psilocybin exists as a zwitterion, meaning it's too polar to dissolve in oil, but it could still go in an ointment emulsion. The polarity may stop it from skin absorption, I'm not sure. Some people swear by topical use of magnesium chloride, though, so maybe that combination would be worth exploring?

In principle, fatty acid esters of psilocin could be prepared, analogous to 4-AcO-DMT. Afaik their properties and usage are entirely open questions.

Psilocybin treatment extends cellular lifespan and improves survival of aged mice

or some article here:

Don't get me wrong but I could see some kind of beauty product incoming :)

I will have to look around about any rue ointments also...

Funny thing is, that we ingest like 5grams but from the looks of this we should be bathing in stuff 🤣🤣

Peyote ointments are an age-old remedy already:

- hopefully this serves as some inspiration for you all the same.

The question possibly arise as to which mushroom species might be used for making a more 'natural' ointment, i.e. as opposed to a synthetic 4-acyloxy-DMT product (and I do mean acyloxy, as a general term for some carboxylate ester of psilocin). Perhaps the Nexus should patent this idea before someone else tries to…

@Sakkadelic may have some info on rue topical use for skin health I think.
I don't have a direct experience with it. There's harmal oil (sesame oil rue extract) but it's not clear if it has a significant amount of the alkaloids, they do mention topical use as antiseptic and beneficial for skin ailments and injury, and pain reliefe for sciatica and rheumatism. I like to think of harmalas as cure all folk medicine.

It would be nice to get some numbers on harmala alkaloids solubility in oil for both salt and freebase. Applying the salt on the skin might dye it yellow and make it fluoresce!

I've noticed a slight fluorescence being carried over into a medium naphtha after pouring it into a container that was stained with a heavy residual crust from harmala brews. It should also be noted that the naphtha had stearin candle wax dissolved in it.

This seems to imply some level of fat-solubility with a fluorescent component of harmala brews, although that's no guarantee there was a β-carboline involved.
