Trouble getting stable crystals- a. confusa q21q21's a/b

Hey all I am looking for a bit of advice. Total noob, first extraction.

Powdered A. Confusa root bark used, following Q21Q21 a/b tek to the T.
Vinegar steep, followed by addition of hydrated lime.
Pulled with warm naptha after 18 hours, poured into pyrex dish, evap naptha until cloudy.
Put in freezer. Beautiful white crystals after 6 hours

Here is where things went wrong. I poured off the naptha and left the container in front of a fan at an angle to dry. Within 5-10 minutes the crystals had turned into clear sticky oil.
Tried a re-crystal in warm naptha, with same results.

I would like to have a stable crystal for storage.

Is it maybe because of the source material? Acacia Confusa root bark
Would defatting help? (I understand the concept just not sure how i would separate the solvent back out)

When I let my crystals dry I place the container upside down to make sure any leftover naptha drains out. Just a thought. I've had the problem you speak of a couple times. I've heard that some people take it out of the freezer, dump the naptha, and then place back in the freezer for a while before taking it out to dry and that helps or so it appears.

Thats possibly because from 30-70% of Acacia confusa's alkaloid content is NMT, which for some reason does not crystallize as easily as DMT (even though in pure form it is also white/transparent crystals).

You can try recrystallizing (and freezingg instead of evapping) a couple of times, though according to nen's tests, NMT is less soluble in naphtha than is DMT, so you may lose a bit of NMT there (which is also psychoactive, albeit less so than DMT).

Last but not least, you can also just store the oil and/or infuse some herbs with it for a perfectly psychoactive smoke. You can weigh a container and then use a bit of clean acetone or ethanol to dissolve your oil and evap on that container, weigh again, and you'll know your total yield. Then get the same amount of herbs, dissolve the oil again in some acetone/ethanol and mix the herbs and let it all evap, so yuo have nice psychoactive 1:1 enhanced herbs

This same thing happened with my a confusa extraction. I poured IPA in the jar picked up the melted crystals after the naptha was completely evapped, and i'm now waiting for it to dry on the herbs I poured it on.

This is one option.

I've also read that at room temp. nmt will crytsalize and fall out of the solution then the naptha can be placed back in the freezer so you can get a more dominant dmt to nmt ratio. I never tried this so I don't know if it works.

Once I bioassay the herbs I infused with my a confusa extract i'll post the experience, but i;ve read that thwe IPA method of infusing herbs with the oily a confusa does produce a pleasant effect. not as intense as pure dmt but "weir, strange, longer duration".

The oil does dry if you scrape it about a bit. It doesn't make pretty crystals, but it does solidify eventually.

Thanks for the advice all. I believe the source materiel I have may be high in NMT. Considering that I would lose a good portion of my yield if I were to separate the NMT out, I have decided to keep is as is for now.

I tested a small amount of the clear oil I spoke of and was blasted halfway into hyperspace. I can't compare it to pure DMT as this was my first experience with any type of DMT (besides mushrooms).

Will I be missing out on some of the experience by not further refining the product? Smoking a breakthrough dose of the oil as it is now won't be a problem I imagine, I am an experienced toker and have a good vaporizing method.

I haven't decided my method of storage just yet. I want to experiment with evapping the DMT onto herbs, as well as trying an acetate tincture method. Or I could just leave the oil in freebase form in a glass vial.
