trouble with cappi extract

I am not sure of the issue. I made my tea with 75g of shredded vine reduced a little till I got about 800ml of concentrated tea. I added 10g of lye to 50ml of water mix and add 25 ml of the solution to the tea.

And.... Nothing. No precipitate at all.

Added the other 25ml and still nothing.

I have done rue extraction with great success but nothing here.

Does anyone have any ideas? The photos below are of the mix and an example of the vine. Maybe I got bunk?

That is rather thin and young caapi, and it's fairly well established that the older the caapi is the more alkaloids will be in there. I've done multiple extractions off of caapi that size, and have gotten about .5% each time. So if you assume that your vine is .5% alkaloids by weight, that is about 375 milligrams of harmine/harmaline that will be in there. Spread through 800 ml of solution, would mean most likely that is nearly impossible for you to see any of it precipitate (like rue does). So you've probably got a few hundred mg in there, but it's going to be very difficult to recover.

for extraction of semi-pure alkaloids, after adding base, i normally strain it through a clean cloth, and the precipitate is caught by the cloth.
I then wash the cloth in a small/minimal amount of clean water.
This will dissolve the alkaloids into the water, which is then recovered by evaporation.
I sometimes clean this further, but usually it's enough for my purposes.
I`d suggest trying the same...but keep the filtered liquid, incase it hasn't precipitated yet.
Have you checked the PH level?

did you simmer 3x3hr in acid/water ?

That looks a lot like the Black Caapi I tried but saw nothing precip, at first. I let it sit for days and finally something maybe on the bottom so I decanted a bit and added fresh water every couple days. Now its clear with a tan layer on the bottom. Pretty sure the amount of water I used had something to do with it. When I finish I will share.

Let it sit for days. Gravity, slow and sure. If something is in there it will eventually come down.
