hi everyone,

when you order truffles online the usually arrive in a sealed platic bag with some liquid in them.
how long can you store them - maybe in a fridge - before they go bad?

also i read that some people dry them, is this a good option for storing?

thanks

Hi,

The link below claims they can be stored fresh in the fridge for up to three months, but the sooner one consumes them, the better. If you're not planning to consume them within that time frame, it would definitely be advisable to dry them out for long term storage...just make sure to rehydrate them prior to consumption.

thank you for the reply.

why would you rehydrate them? cant you just eat them dry like mushrooms?

Only if you want to break your teeth! Dried truffles are hard as rocks which is why they are sometimes referred to as "philosopher's stones!"
