Hi Everyone,

It seems that all paths are leading me to Peru, so... I am off in July 2011. Has anyone got some good advice as to which Ayahuasca program is actually genuine and not a complete rip-off, to go to in Peru. Have been looking at a couple on-line, but would prefer some advice from fellow seekers that have actually been there and expereienced a genuine Shamanic Ceremony that they would recommend that isn't just a tourist trap. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Cheers PP

I guess you can go to famous people like guillermo arevalo, but you're gonna be paying a LOT.. Personally I would just go there, and go deep in the jungle away from places like iquitos, and try to find some ayahuasca curandero or indigenous tribe that uses ayahuasca but that doesnt announce the work to the western world so much... but thats me..

If you dont know yet, I would say try to learn some spanish in this time, its definitely gonna help you a lot :)

good luck !

I agree with the idea endlessness, however, there are a vast number of tribes using Ayahuasca in a vast number of ways. You will not want to run the dice for your first experience with a shaman. Guillermo is expensive, yes, but I can assure you he is worth it. He is an extremely good shaman and a wonderful human being. I have met with many shamans from many different tribes, no one has ever made me so full of love and happiness as Guillermo. And that was even before the ceremony, which was just simply out of this world and even out of hyperspace...

I've been looking at this place: Chimbre

...not looking to go there exactly...just been looking...reading the stories & watching the videos (there is a video of the head shaman speaking).

By the look and feel of it, and watching the people and reading the stories....I would go there.

yeah you are right that it can be risky to go to some unknown shaman (there are shamans that use datura or similar species as an admixture in the ayahuasca brew, for example, and I personally wouldnt like to ingest those brews), so all caution is advised. Thats why its important to get to know the shaman, to listen to your own feelings about him, to preferably participate in the brewing process, to ask locals around about his reputation, etc...

I believe you guillermo is good, its interesting that you give feedback from your personal experience, I guess thats exactly what the OP wants.. and if one is willing to pay, then its indeed an option to consider. All depends on each one's situation and ideas and possibilities.

:)
