I'm curious. Are there any transgender* members in the Nexus? From what I understand, "two-spirits" were held in high regard by North American tribes, and many were placed into a shamanic role.

I am a transwoman myself. While I personally never made a connection between my gender identity and my interest in entheogens, I can see how it gave me an introspective nature and has ultimately led to a more holistic outlook on life.

So my question: are people who are more prone toward open-mindedness (those who appreciate entheogens, specifically) more likely to have transgender natures as well?

*I'm using transgender as an umbrella term, so as to include cross dressers, transvestites, androgynes, transsexuals, etc...

While I don't have an answer for your questions, and though I know you can't post in this thread yet, I think you might like to have a look-see at the thread below

Two Spirits

hello, mamsir
In hawaii (they are very gay friendly there as you would see on their license plate tags; half a rainbow) not to mention half the island is filled with rain
anyway I just went on a hitch hiking/ beach bum tour sleeping in a hammock, making music, cooking squid, poetry etc.. one night after seeing SO many gay people, cooking with them- They didn't seem weird at all to me. After being chased by this old vetran / reformed crackhead who had two of his buddies threaten to kick my butt, for hardly a reason at all - I saluted him for telling me he was veteran- they let go of my shirt collar

Later sitting there, ripped up clothes I met this guy, muscley, spanish, in his 30s or so dipping his hands into the sea. He came sat next to me, we started talking about destiny and philosophy right off the bat. Life and everything, then he said "I like to come out here every night and swim naked, because I feel like my whole body is communicating with the sea" and then said you know "what I like to do?" I asked "...uh what?" -"be a kid.. R____ , what's the one thing that makes you feel like a kid? " "I dont know" I said- he said I like to do this; so he proceeded to take off all of his clothes, and danced around like a child. (wasn't too weird btw) I said I like to keep my clothes on usually. And that's some of the completely, strange and inspirational stuff that happened

I felt alot better that night hanging out with a friend. Then he just invited me to sit and meditate with him. we held arm and arm Than suddenly I felt a jolt over my body and felt like I had a epiphany about my friend, Jose. An image of him arose in my mind, like a carrot that had these vines attached to him and on those vines were a male and female genitalia that while still being attached to the vines of his vegetable body were infact attacking him! Note I had not taken anydrugs... Then we both a had a vision of me and it was bright, bright smiling face made of pure light!

The he invited me to stay the night in his 1 bedroom apt. (crowded) while drinking russian beer. I slept on the floor better than where I was at before. The next morning we woke and he had a dream about being in love with a women that turned into a man. Oh and that he was Bisexual.

My point is being that he was a cool guy. But he often times let his sense of gender preference get in the way of life. And for anybody whose ego makes them constantly identify with which group of supposed male or female roles they feel they have to choose will have made a huge mistake. Becuase it is not being man or women, gay or straight, liberal or conservative, black or white, rich or poor that Makes us who we truly are. But if you are a guy BE PROUD of the fact. cultivate and enjoy your power to overtake social situations. You know life's just about be proud and making the use of what you got in this one precious life. Be proud of your masculinity. Dress up is for women proud of their femininity. Take a look YOURSELF and watch what they go through to be attractive and furthermore once you have become a little more of a man tell them their beautiful to their every inch of their soul.
You'll probably understand your physical manifesation in this universe alot better

first it would probably help to stop identifying with your sexuality to convince yourself who you are. what would I know, man you could even be a women trying to be a man. hahaha
in that case sorry- just wanting to help and do not intend to teach people how to live their lives

Gender is a funny thing. We all have both male and female elements us. I find balancing them suits me well.

I have to say that gender goes beyond sex or sexual orientation. Most view gender as either a male or female but that doesn't account for masculine females or femme guys or everywhere in between

Hi,

I've written a DMT experience report from a transgender perspective: "Transgender DMT Experience"

Psychedelics helped me to understand that, by definition, I'm transgender (bio male, trans female) and that I basically suppressed this gender reality.

I've verified it. There's no doubt. Just bought myself a lovely pair of shoes today, shoes made for my gender that is, and I felt so right and so good walking into that store because I wanted them so badly once I had seen them in the window, and I really love to wear them now. That's just one example of my gender expression. That said, there's no doubt that I'm transgender.

I only realised and accepted this reality with a little help by my friends from the spirit world, so to speak. I always knew I have some very female characteristics in my personality, and I was totally fine with them, but I never considered myself transgender nor did I conduct any research on transgender.
Now since I've realised that the degree of my femininity, in relation to my biologically male body, DOES, by definition, resemble a trans personality, I'm free. I feel better. Because I now know what I need to do, and I allow myself to do it now, and it's like breathing fresh air.
In fact, I'm proud of myself. I walk the streets wearing a trace of makeup around my eyes, little enough that it's still acceptable for a very feminine man in the rather liberal city I live (that's enough to be clearly visible when somebody looks at me while we speak). It feels very right to me. I feel comfortable. I'm able to express myself now.
The downside of my liberation is the awareness of the psychosocial situation, like I'll still have to keep a low profile at work, in the quarter I live (there many families with kids) etc, and I have to accept that my body lacks certain features I really would like to have, features that would make me feel complete if I had them. Though I still feel much better now, even though I lack these features, even though I can't just walk out of my flat dressed up the way I'd like. But I can put up with that. As I did so far in my life. Yet being aware now that I'm trans, being able to express my trans personality now, feeling it, being it, this FEELS WAY MORE PLEASANT than ignoring or suppressing it any longer.

I was wondering whether other psychedelics users experience gender shifts (e.g. a man experiencing himself suddenly clearly as a woman) on trips. Or whether this type of experience is typical for trans people. In my case this happened regularly, not exceptionally, and on a broad spectrum of psychedelics, as I've stated in the aforementioned experience report. And it felt so good being connected to my real gender during these psychedelic experiences, that I ended up doing DMT with the intention to vividly experience myself as woman. I haven't found any similar reports so far.
So, anybody had similar experiences? Once, twice, exceptionally, or frequently, often? And as cis- or as transgender person? Please drop a note if you have had such experiences, thank you, I'd highly appreciate it.
