UK MXE ban one step closer?

Migrated topic.
Possibly, however it would be wrong to simply ban it untill more information was provided. Who knows maybe they tried to commit suicide??..we need more info. In comparison, cigarettes and alcohol kill 1000's yet continue to be allowed to be sold.:surprised

it never stopped them before and it wont stop them now, even with evidence that things are relatively safe they will ban them anyway cos its DRUGS.

At least there thinking of the children:roll:

-They can do as they pretty much wish TBH, and it looks like it will be soon especially after this and the recent mixmag ropflecoptr reporting. Maybe this mixmag reporting stirred up a frenzy and made people wanna do as much as possible before a possible ban?? Such reporting usually creates a negative vibe which attracts negative behaviour.... Thing is they won't be banning a drug, it'll be a research chemical being banned.

i didnt know about the Mixmag article, i will have to try to find a copy. Fortunately im not into MXE so this wont effect me but i have a couple of friends who love it who wont be best pleased, untill they find something else to bang into there heads that is 😉

why do you differentiate between drug and RC? are they not 1 in the same?

"anyone who has obtained this or similar substances not to take it and to contact the police or other health professionals".

Since when were the Police 'health professionals'?!

I'll be stocking up if they plan to ban it, 5 grams or so would last me years... 8)

wow.
of all the mindless, slightly variated, USELESS stimulants available on the UK market...
they'd have to ban mxe - one of the best priced, most exciting, non-psychedelic substances available.

It's things like 'roflcopter' that make me cringe.
You want to talk about what's giving drugs a bad name...?

In my opinion, most drugs become prohibited once they've developed enough stigma.
At this point, (and I say this for most governments) the grip on control has become an impossibility, the protection of our youth is by the same degree.
It's chemicals like LSD that have always stayed scheduled because of they're association with a culture; it's stigmas.

Once a story goes public and someone dies and the autopsy reveals JWH or whatever it may be in they're system...
it's these kind of situations where a substance is stigmatized and a hightened awareness develops.
But as we all know, a few deaths are nowhere near enough reason to declare something dangerous. It's tragic yes, and raises an area of concern.
But the point im making is how it also raises alot of bias.

What people need to consider is when calling a substance roflcopter... your associating what is essientially, a kiddy and ultra-stupid name to a culture.
Yes, not all drug users are part of the same culture... but from an outsider's point of view (the legislators don't forgot) drugs are drugs.

Roofline for example, used by rapists and labeled the "date rape drug" by society. Did everyone us this drug to rape people? no.
So i mean, once stigma is attached to something, the awareness of it is heightened, the biases become more prevalent etc.
You can basically say goodbye to the chemical.

-Yes, of course MXE is a drug, but when people think "DRUGS" they think it's something illegal, and something evil. This is why i prefer to stick to the term "research chemical". And it fit's the profile of a research chemical because it has not yet been researched enough to find all it's properties.

-It is vital to use the correct terminology here, because otherwise it's status gets blurred and misunderstood. Take a look at the rubbish repoting on the bbc article. They are trying to say that legal MXE is illegal Ketamine!! :surprised

if its vital to use the correct terminolgy then the term drug should be used as its correct, irrelevant of what joe blogs thinks, shirley.

the BBC reporting is however rubbish.

"Roflcoptr"?! WHAT. THE. &^%$?! I can't believe anyone has given any drug that stupid stupid name. This is the first I have heard of it... I must be out of touch wit de yoots dem... And I'm glad tbh, they would probably get a well deserved slap 8) But yes, well said Bigmack, agreed on all points.

It was only a matter of time until this compound started making the headlines, and this will undoubtedly get it fast tracked for banning as per $%^&ing usual. Bloody typical, MXE is one of the only legal RC's worth bothering with IMO
