Swim ordered his MHRB last night :) should be here for friday. Swim was in b&q today and bought 500g of concentrated caustic soda, the guy in the shop said that its pure NaoH and nothing else. My question is has anyone else used this b&q brand concentrated NaoH and is it good stuff or is there a better alternative? Thanks.

Also it says concentrted so swim is wondering if he would need to use less, any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Is it NaOH dissolved in water? If yes, what is the amount? Is there any indication in the label (e.g. 20%NaOH)?

"concentrated" means nothing. It may be concentrated enough to make a good drain unblocker (usually 4-10%NaOH) but a concentrated drain unblocker is not concentrated enough for soap making (usually around 30%).

Or is it crystals? Is it a powder/pellet kind of thing? In that case the term "concentrated" does not apply. 100% NaOH is 100% NaOH.

That's the exact stuff you need. Red cap, white bottle, red label.

Follow your tek to the letter.

It's a granulated powder, the only ingredient that the label mentions is caustic soda so im assuming its pure NaoH, thanks.
