Using salt to change DMT acetate to DMT hcl

SWIM is extracting Syrian Rue and in the instruction it says,"... sodium chloride [that's table salt, man] (100g. / liter of liquid) is added to transform the acetates of harmine and harmaline into the hydrochlorides which are insoluble in cold sodium chloride solutions and are precipitated during cooling."

He was thinking that this may also work transforming DMT acetate to DMT hcl.

Any thought?

DMT acetate is much easier to work with than DMT-HCL. The main reason is the when xylene/toluene/d-limonene are used on basified MHRB there is a lot picked up besides all the DMT and HCl tends to precipitate a bunch of gunk out of the solvent while warm vinegar precipitates a nice goo of nearly pure DMT that is stable enough to be evaporated over simmering water (or a food dehydrator) and can be dissolved in hot water to make very potent tinctures. Also acetates, just like Hcl evaporates clean, so what is left is just DMT.

If a smokable product is wanted then the evaporated goo or the vinegar used to salt the DMT out can be basified, easiest would be lye, but lime and maybe ammonia could be used. Then it could be washed with IPA or acetone (toluene/xylene/limonene though it takes forever to evaporate) to pick up the freebased alkaloids.

Bear in mind SWIM has only done this basifying with lye or lime and pulling with naptha (for the white freebase) then limonene (for the other DMT alkaloids, jungle and N-N-Oxides). the rest is just stuff SWIM's read on the forums that apparently works.

also, note that neither dmt hcl nor acetate are solid, they are gooey (harmalas hcl are solids, thats why the advantage of that step specifically for harmalas)
