Vaping Spice oil safe?

SNSKS.

Rising Star
Hi all, i read that plant based oils are not safe to vape as they can harm your lungs, my extracted yelllowish spice also turns into an oil first when heating the glass pipe before turning in to vape.

Can it be this is oil residu from the bark or do the DMT crystals themself always turn into oil first when heated and wouldn't that bring the same danger for the lungs as vaping plant oil?

Curious to hear your thoughts and opinions on this

How do you know your spice turns into oil specifically instead of just melting into a more liquid form?
Indeed, given that freebase DMT has a melting point between about 45 and 70°C, it's simply going to melt.

Where did you read this and what was the context? What makes you think your DMT is likely to contain oils if you extracted it correctly?

Yeah, that's totally normal for it to become an oily texture as you heat it.. DMT simply melts before it vaporizes. The fact that you only labeled it 'yellowish' implies to me that your extract is a crystal (and hence fairly pure) to start with? In that case there would be minimal oily impurities if any. That said, I have tested many plants and bioassayed their unsolidified extracts over the years: and I've never experienced any cause for concern.. I'd be much more concerned with residual lye or solvent than anything.

Thanks for both your replies, i am not too much worried abiut chemical residu as i am pretty confident that is cleaned out after double heptane reex with activated carbon added also.

I feel the yellow might be oil of the root bark itself which may be harmfull simply because its an oil.

Do the pure white chrystals also turn into oil first and would that than possibly carry the same risk as vaping any oil?

DMT isn’t an essential oil.. you’ll be fine. You are misunderstanding this and creating an issue that IMO really isn’t an issue with vaping DMT extracts.

When DMT it melts it is not oil.. it just becomes a liquid at a certain temperature. Just like ice crystals become a liquid at room temp.. and vapor at even higher temps..

Same story for DMT.. it is a crystal within certain temperature range, then heat it up a little and it becomes a liquid texture.. before dispersing as vapor when it hits the right temperature.

If you are really worried about other impurities from the plant then you could recrystallize it.

All the best.

Also know that vaping and inhaling anything other than clean air is harmful to your lungs, so if you’re worried about impacting your health don’t vape DMT, and look into ayahuasca or pharmahuasca.

DMT is polymorphic - it has at least two crystalline forms with different melting points. One of these is yellowish. DMT also has a tendency to polymerise/oligomerise, becoming deeper in colour an more amorphous - oily - in the process.

Having the quality of oiliness does not necessarily equate with being an oil. Oils remain hydrophobic under physiological conditions, which is a large part of why they are dangerous to inhale. Contrastingly, DMT in the lungs will be absorbed rapidly (as well we know) partly due to its being easily protonated and converted to a water-soluble form in the body.
