So when to start, is something that has been on my mind for quite some time. I have been reading on the nexus for nearly a decade and before that on dmt world. The new forum has now pushed me to finally make an account so I cannot only watch but maybe even contribute.

For most of my life I have been traveling to hyperspace on dmt, and until a couple years ago I had some real life friends that were also diving into this ineffable pool of magic.
Now that they have become older I know no-one who is still traveling on a regular basis and I mis the conversation. So I guess that’s also why I decided to join, to hopefully talk to likeminded people who understand the pull for the unknown.

Over the years my dmt use has become almost like a religion, a ritual I want and need to participate in on a semi regular basis. I drives me and changed me to become a better version of myself and seems to keep doing so. Not to say I only have serious trips, at times it’s quite a hedonistic, light and epic adventure.

My private life is very (to) busy and I try to manage a job my family and working on my plan to buy a plot of land in the alps to try the self sufficient dream in nature thing.

I’m not so sure how I can contribute here exactly but I will do my best to do so.

Varollo,

Welcome to formal membership. I am so glad you finally decided to join up. We have a lot of older members here, including myself, so getting older doesn't always mean you stop psychedelics.

I have found a lot of community here and hope you will too.

Feel free to drop into the chat in the future. Hopefully an announcement will be made when it is ready for widespread use.

I hope to see you around.

Welcome @Varollo
I do sometimes wonder why people stop doing the things of their youth that was 'adventurous'. For me that adventure is more in the realm of something like fixing and old VW beetle and taking it on a road trip. You hope it doesn't break down or need some maintenance along the way but kind of do to show that you can still fix things on the fly.

Everything was an adventure in my youth, and I had to be creative with no cell phone, and just a map and whatever I had in my pockets to get myself out of a jam. I do miss those days.

Many people, from what I've read here, simply end the journey with DMT when they've found the answers they are looking for (or at least take a very long break).

I love your plan to find a place in the alps. I always love watching the movie 'Alone in the Wilderness' with Dick Proenneke regarding his moving to Alaska and building a cabin on twin lakes at the age of 50, and just living off the grid. I certainly wish that was something that was in the cards for me, but alas, family and work etc keep it a dream. I am however working on a nice little plot where I live that has enough of the things the family wants in a house, and a little bit extra un-corrupted space in the woods with a nice view for me to lay in my hammock under the stars and enjoy nature.

I hope you find what you are looking for here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

He pandora, thank you for the making me feel so welcome, I have seen you being so welcoming to new members for years now and it always makes me smile that you seem to have an endless supply of good words for new members, looking forward to seeing you in the chat.

Hi Dexter, I agree, never stop to look for adventure. I have some fond memories of traveling around and ending up in some of the most wonderful places, I once hitchhiked from Amsterdam to Herat (Afghanistan) and back. It was an epic experience in every aspect. I’m not sure if that is still something that is around. The plans of living in the alps are something for the long run. First building a house and then when there’s a bit more time maybe living there parttime as the winters can be brutal at the altitude I’m looking at. Thanks for the tip on Dick Proenneke I have just watched it, beautiful. I’m sure though that I don’t want that kind of isolation, I like being around people.

Hey Varallo. Nice to "meet" you. Thanx for all your help allready. I just read your introduction and the parto of finding a place in the alps resonated with me alot. Indded its something i am also thinking about and once nearly i bought the small house in the Italian alps. I paid money, but i was cheated :) Anyway i remember finding this wonderfull place there in the valley called VALCHIUSELLA. Its very interesting place with lots of alternative people leaving around and creating some sort of a community. Nature is so beautifull there and prices for houses waiting for renovation are super affordable. I a still considering of doing it one day and have some place there... Check it out.

Ha, that’s so nice of you to share, I just came back from Italy after a week long trip viewing tens of houses and hiking around, was super inspiring to see the possibilities. We visited mostly places a bit higher up map near the Swiss border but dit get down to valdilana, which would I guess be a hours drive from valchuicella. Next trip the plan is to go down on the map and then to the left and right so I will be standing on that bridge in the summer I guess 😄.

The plan is now to get our bearings and experience the seasons before picking a place to buy a house, so far from what we’ve been seeing it’s possible to buy anything, but something with a bit of land and near some sort of amenities in a position that is in the sun in the winter is a bit more tricky. And then we would still need to buy something without getting scammed, which is a bit unsettling. It’s an adventure so to speak.

So maybe in the future we will unknowingly become neighbors on one of these mountains 😀.

Take care

Make sure that there is plenty of water if you buy something off grid or homestead.

The best way would be to visit also in the dryer season, in August to see if there is still water running.

This will be some of the main issues the upcoming years, you can arrange everything that doesn't fit, but you can't carry water up the mountain 😉
