Vilca extraction... dark, sticky, tar-like precipitate

Migrated topic.

So far, SWIM has saturated the toasted, freebased seeds with acetone, filtered off and added FASA, which precipitated some greenish brown crystals over the course of a day or so.

As an experiment SWIM mixed these crystals with distilled water. They dissolved very easily forming a dark, clear, brown liquid.

SWIM added to this some more distilled water that had been brought up to pH of 10.5 using sodium carbonate.

A dark, sticky, tar-like sludge immediately precipitated out. The liquid changed from a dark, clear, brown to quite milky. Almost like creamed coffee.

So, what is this tar? It would have to have been salted out with the FASA.

It's not bufotenine, is it?

It seems there is enough tar-like precipitate that most of what was salted out using FASA was in fact this mystery substance.

SWIM says the precipitate definitely IS bufotenine freebase, or at least a crude extract containing it. The reason given is that the liquid has become clear (from milky) and nothing has precipitated out besides this sludge.

However, there is also the possibility (however remote) that this sludge is merely a contaminant and that the freebase is in solution.

SWIM found this all a bit strange considering that he has done the exact same process with DMT and it produced clear crystals, not a thick sludge.

bufotenine from vilca is a whole different animal..SWIM would try to help you with this..but he has no experience after your FASA step..he never mixes the FASA precipitated bufotenine..with sodium carbonate basified solution..he always mixed the sodium carbonate with the bufotenine fumarate..and then mixes in just enough water to make a paste..and then lets it dry..then pulls with acetone again..the FASA step is to clean the crystals of fats and oils..but you still need to separate the toxins from the bufotenine..because otherwise it will make you very sick(puking)

so SWIM doesnt know whether your precipitated out the toxins of the bufotenine..its really hard to say..but its possible that the bufotenine is actually in the cloudy liquid..but dont hold SWIM to that

I understand.

As an experiment, SWIM tried adding fumaric acid to a solution of distilled water and sodium carbonate. After some bubbling, the liquid remained clear without any precipitates. SWIM thought that maybe the crystals that precipitated using FASA were adulterated with fumaric acid and perhaps that was forming this thick, sticky precipitate. Not the case.

What this means is that the solid, semi transparent crystals, when added to a basic aqueous solution, formed a tar like precipitate. This is unlike what occurs when DMT fumarate is added... Probably a lot of this has to do with other compounds found in the vilca seeds.

Anyway, I will keep in contact with SWIM and see what he finds out.

wouldnt I be able to salt out the bufo by boilign the seeds in vinegar water, and adding some more rock salt water, like in the syrian rue tek...would bufo salts precip out as it cooled?? and then I could freebase with sodium carbonate and wash again in the boiling lemonene??..
