Vinegar/Lime TEK question

SWIM attempted the "Q21Q21 Vinegar/Lime A/B tek" but couldn't break the (100g) MHRB down to a powder so was left with a bunch of thin fibers and a good handful of powder (which SWIM thinks is where it went wrong).
The first step of mixing (200ml) vinegar seemed to be absorbed by the fibers so 10-20 ML were added to get the right consistency. When adding the (100g) garden lime and a splash of boiling water it didn't turn "goopy" but more spongy...once again probably due to the fibers as opposed to a powder majority.
It formed a nice crust on the top but instead of the MHRB being a red it almost turned a dark purple-throughout I may add not just on the crust layer.
SWIM followed by adding the Naptha, which is the only thing that seems to look correct here other than the purply color. After a good mixing over 30 min SWIM pressed what naptha they could out of it in into a glass baking dish, covered it and tossed in the freezer over night.
in the morning there were one or two tiny white specs, but no cloudiness and especially no xstals :( :( :(
So over all no yeild and the only spots that SWIM sees seems to be impurities.

Any Ideas, please let me know or just punch SWIM in the junk for messing up this seemingly easy 1,2,3 process.

thanks in advance.

Garden Lime may unfortunately be Dolomite lime, not Pickling or Hydrated quick acting Lime. I can't quite explain the difference, without doing some research. But Picking Lime is Calcium Carbonate (quick acting) vs Dolomite-- slower acting. My guess is you used Dolomite Lime.

"was your MHRB ground to a powder or shredded?"

SWIMs MHRB is shredded, but then cut down and put through another grinder.

"Garden Lime may unfortunately be Dolomite lime, not Pickling or Hydrated..."

SWIM is now positive that it's the Lime they purchased. In nice very tiny print on the back of the bag it says "Derived from Dolomite". Though slightly embarrassed that it was something simple SWIM is grateful for the overlooked bit of information when purchasing this product.
