Hey folks;

Just wanted to do a celebratory thread (and possible PSA) regarding another legal landmark for the stinky plant.

Active since July 1st (a few days ago), simple possession of small quantities of cannabis, and the residential growing of 4 plants, is now legal in the land of the frees "lovers" state of Virginia. Not only is Virginia for lovers anymore, it is also for smoking a doobie with your lover (or by yourself, or with the squirrels or whatever). It is still illegal to smoke in public, and there's a whole bunch of caveats, subtleties, and ambiguities of course.

Here's the official, comprehensive, state government page:

Good progress for Virginia!

Crazy that the US FDA still lists cannabis as a schedule 1 substance after decades of use proves that it's harmless. Schedule 1 in the US is the most "dangerous" and is considered to have no medical benefit and a high potential for abuse. Same classification as heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, etc.

Crazy indeed. Government has zero credibility now a days. Lots of intelligent folks rolling their eyes at drug schedules around the world.

It is chilling how many harsh laws against nature were justified with incorrect information. A dark time in human history we can hopefully put behind us ASAP.
