Waiting before pulls

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter, but is it fine to leave the bark in the lye/water mix for multiple hours (or even days) before pulling? Does it help with yield at all?

Thanks!

But does it matter if the bark sits in the solution for a day or two before adding any solvent to do the pulls? I'm wondering if that would (potentially) increase yields? Or is it generally not advised? Most tek's I see suggest waiting an hour or two after adding the bark into the solution to start pulling.

It is fine to leave your basic solution for days/weeks. I usually stretch my extraction out over the course of a week or more, doing one or two pulls a day. BTW, there are a lot of threads where this question was already answered:

How long can you safely leave the basified solution out?

Can mimosa mix sit over-night?

How long is a lye/water/mhrb/nap mixture "good" for?

thank you!! I tried searching for relevant topics first, but I don't think I was using the right terms so I couldn't pull anything back. Thanks.

No problem. It can be difficult to get the search engine on this site to work properly so what I do is use google. For instance, if I wanted to look up information about DMT goo I would type the following into google:

goo site:www.dmt-nexus.me

or in your case:

how long can basic mixture sit? site:www.dmt-nexus.me

This causes google to search through the Nexus only for relevant topics and works much better, imo.

Hi,
Just thought I may as well chime in as well, I extract from acacia and I go to work for 10 days at a time,
and I frequently leave my base soup sitting for up to 3 to 4 weeks.

Just be sure to have it somewhere safe where children, dogs, cats, chickens, donkeys, nosy neighbours, etc can't get at it and knock it over! It must be in a safe area, where nobody could accidentally break the jar and get lye burns, if you are not home.
It's crazy how much you can get out of it when you keep pulling every so often! It will increase yields if shredded or whole bark pieces are allowed to sit. Definitely won't hurt it.

Let us know how your extraction goes!
Good luck!😁

Here's another link regarding letting it sit a long time (6 months)
