Walk me through a DCM defat cycle

Hello.
I am kind of in love with soxhlet mechanics. So you kind souls with experience using a soxhlet extractor please chime in. I wish to acidify MHRB and use a soxhlet extractor to defat with DCM as a solvent. How would that go about. Idk, maybe I am dead wrong on everything here, if so, how then.

i'm not a soxhlet expert (and never extracted from), but, i believe you have to do the defat prior to acidic stage.
Do your soxhlet cycle with NPS, then take your dried bark and acidify, then base, then pull with NPS.
I really don't know if it can be usefull in this process, depending on what goal you want to achieve.
I'm really not an expert in soxhlet and actually looking for one for many purpose, so take my advice as it is.

If you're not familiar with soxhlet usage, i would recommend you to use for testing purpose, less dangerous chemical (as water for example than DCM), this way you'll in the way to mastering your soxhlet skills and not put danger in in :thumb_up:

Are you familiar with handling DCM? It's one of the solvents that I try to avoid unless I have access to an adequate hood and safety wear. The standard nitrile gloves will not keep it off your skin if it comes in contact.

Also, others have observed that DCM will pull DMT salts. So, if you were attempting to acidify and defat, I would pick a different solvent. If you JUST want to defat, you could use toluene or xylene. Naphtha would work as well, but the other two would pull more fats.

If you have mimosa root bark, you shouldn't even need to defat. It doesn't have many oils and I have never had issues with excess fat unless I have done pulls with heat. Even then, very little fat; mainly discoloration.

Unless you are just looking for an excuse to play with a soxhlet, then it probably wouldn't add any benefit.

if you wanna play around with soxhlet that cool but it didnt really better then pc cook/sonicator/long long boils, its all mattar of cell lyse(thanks for that lesson benz), with soxhlet you can use methanol or ethanol but the result will be similar at the end.
if there was tons of oils and fats that prosses could help a bit with the defat but with mimoza regular boil is just fine

for mimoza you shouldn't have much oil and fats, you can extract with toluene or xylene, salt with vinegar, base and pull with naptha, in this prosses you should get DMT+Jungle and leave most of the oils behaind. am i right?
