Hi guys,

SWIM has completed his DMT_handbook extraction with prepowdered Mimosa Hostilis RB. Very finely powdered, more than regular flour, it would make clouds of dust when SWIM poured it. SWIM heated everything to strenghten reactions: acidic solution, basic solution, naphta (hot soda in hot acid is ... very reactive/bubbly ! SWIM almost got scared  )
SWIM ended up with red/brown goo at the bottom, so SWIM decanted at room temperature and siphoned the clear naphtha to another vessel (which is in the freezer now) before pouring the goo in a smaller vessel, left at room temp.
The naphtha is cloudy now with off-white particles, it looks rather good, but SWIM is wondering about that goo.
The top layer is obviously naphtha but what about the two others?
I've read a few posts about red/brown goo, but I don't remember reading something about a thin bottom layer.

are you asking about the white-ish layer at the bottom of the glass ?

did you use cyb's tek/did you add Salt ???

I saw once undissolved salt like this (oversaturated) left at the bottom.

Hi,
Yes, SWIM is wondering about the pale yellow bottom layer.
SWIM used the "DMT handbook" extraction: A/B extraction using hydrochloric acid, caustic soda and naphtha.
Swim just remembered he also used zinc powder for potential dmt-n-oxide. The colour is not the same as that yellowish layer though.
Should SWIM do something with the brown goo and the yellow layer, like another A/B, or infusing herbs perhaps?

It's probably zinc hydroxide then. And the red goo might well have resulted from the over-fine bark powder getting suspended in the naphtha. A slightly coarser grind might have been better.

Leaving things to settle for a few days or weeks can be helpful (if you have a safe place to leave them).

Check your yields, then resort to tinkering :)

Zinc hydroxide... okay! Any way I can make sure of that? I would have expected a more gray-ish colour.

SWIM's DMT needs to be purified a bit, but for now, SWIM yielded 4.3g, for 1.08kg of MHRB REMOVED: No talk of Sourcing Please read the Attitude Page.

OK..when you say "in there", you mean the MHRB, the acidified-basified water, the naphta or the goo?
SWIM has weighed MHRB after the straining, and it weighed 1.8kg, so still 0.8kg of water SWIM was unable to separate (and SWIM strained like crazy!). SWIM would need a real press to get everything out...
After decanting and getting the DMT, SWIM has put the clear naphta to precipitate again, just in case, but nothing seems to come out of this.

PS: sorry about the mod edit.
