[WANTED] New forum Banners

Migrated topic.
I basically constructed a collage of various vectors in Inkscape, taking a variety of different elements from different vectors, and changing them to fit together in unity. I did a lot of chopping and changing of shape, size and colour, to create an original piece. I'm pretty new to digital art, so I'm still finding my feet.....Plus, in the spirit of the Nexus....All open source :D

Peace

Macre

Here's my next attempt. This was going to be my dark one, but I added rainbowey elements to it. My next one I might attempt to have a closer colour blend, rather than the contrasting elements of my first two, and see if I can make it work.

Peace

Macre

I'm starting to get on a roll. Here's an attempt I constructed throughout the morning. My other banners have had a great contrast between the separate elements. This time round, I've gone for black and grey. I think it works, but I may have to come back later and tweek the text a bit more.

Peace

Macre

EDIT: So I've tweeked the text now, and I think I've got a good blend, I may take another look in a few hours, but I think I've got it.

Nice banners!! Gosh we got a lot of participation in this. Quite amazing how many people made banners!
Great work everyone!!! And Macre nice addition!

Thank you brother :D I agree, I've certainly been inspired by the beautiful banners our kin folk have been submitting. My next creation is finished, in contrast to my black and grey banner, I've decided to go for a candy coloured delight.

Peace

Macre

These images that the nexus members have created for their forum are excellent pieces or art, they make the nexus website light up every time I log in.

Thank you everyone!

I know, I know... Mine isn't very good, but I spent a couple hours on it, so I thought I'd share with you guys anyways. I'm digging all the fractals and the hyperspace-metropoleis.

I wanted to try and make a fractal out of the molecule itself using one of those fractal flame packages, but I would've had to build the all the hexagons up from triangles, and I wasn't about to do that. Someone more savvy should do it... I want to see a mathematically generated--(no cheating / copying&pasting / etc.)--three dimensional fractal built up from a DMT 3d cheminfo file!!

I'm digging those background graphics... what are they and how did you make them?

These were created using Gaussian 03, Molekel, Spartan and GAMESS. They are representations of (many different) molecular orbital shells. The paper they come from is here. I tried and tried to do the same thing with the DMT molecule, using the very same software, but I just couldn't figure out how to import the calculated atomic centers, Gaussian functions, and orbitals from Molekel to Gaussian 03. I'd be very curious to see someone succeed at doing this!

I dig this one too ! Would it be possible to have it without the font to complete my collection ?

thanks !

Here you go! I've included the color corrected version (something went wrong with my first post), a version which still includes the "Learn, Share, Expand" texts encrypted in the cmmi10 latex math font, and then just a picture of the beautiful molecular orbital shells. I'd really like to see an accurate simulation of a molecule sometime, where the shells are slowed down enough to appear as a Brownian particle field, the ball and sticks are replaced with protons/neutrons (with no sticks at all), where everything is to scale (if a proton was a five centermeter ball, the electron shell would begin at five kilometers away), and where the color was determined by the spectra of the atoms/molecules in question. It would be a project, but one that would be worthwhile I think.

So here is the banner that spawned from me and Guyomechs symbol project. I think Guyomech may still have some further fixes, but just posting this now as I notice today is the deadline...

More collabs to come?
I think Guyo is gonna start one with another nexian soon.. And like he keeps saying more nexians should do this because theres so many incredible visions in this place.. Id love to keep doing these as well...
