Ways to improve caapi extraction?

I'm planning on doing another caapi extraction and I already have a few things I want to do better this time but I also two questions

Should I use a (coffee) filter at some point to get rid of more impurities and has anybody skipped the second basing stage successfully, as suggested here?

Be more specific. How are you doing your extract? What tek are you following?

Yes you should filter. Do it before you base the first time.

Yes, you can get away with 1 base step, but you should thoroughly wash the freebase alks to remove excess NaOH if you choose to base once.

Personally, I'd reacidify and refilter after the first base step, then do my second base phase with na2co3 and give it a quick cold water wash.

I used this tek and I only used a strainer to filter.
I might have a look at this then.


I'll probably keep the second basing stage because the washing reduced my yield quite a bit I think.
