I'm trying to make DMT through watching videos of YouTube, I think I've done it right but when I pull it out of the freezer it goes to a goo like substance,
Am I supposed to leave it standing up on its side for a few hours or what?

I'm sure we can sort this out. Maybe if you could explain, in as much detail as possible, exactly what materials you've used, what amounts you used, and what you've done at every stage, then we'd stand a chance of troubleshooting a bit more precisely. The act of writing it all out may also aid in increasing your comprehension of the process.

That said, goo formation isn't wholly unheard of - in fact, a quick search of the forum should bring up sufficient information to tackle your particular question. One thread especially springs to mind:

Hi there,
So I'm using Acacia Acuminata bark,
I put 100g of bark in a slow cooker for 2-4 hours with 200 mil of white vinegar and 2 litres of filterd water,
Then I strain it through a nut bag into a 3 litre ereinmeyer flask,
Mix 120g of caustic soda in 350 mil of water and add it to the mix, shake it up, then add 50-100 mil of naphtha/shelite as I'm in Australia, flip it about 50 times then let it sit for an hour,
Draw the shelite out with a Turkey baster, into a glass dish and put in freezer for 24 hours,
When I pull it out of the freezer, empty the shelite, I let it dry but it stays gooey...
What am I missing??

As far as I understand it, a defat in the acid stage is fairly essential for acacia. People have also been reporting problems with Australian naphtha brands absorbing too much moisture now because of some recent reformulation.

There are a couple of ways of tackling the moisture - the naphtha can be dried using anhydrous sodium carbonate (maybe even preceded by a saturated brine wash) directly before the freeze precip, and @acacian has recmmended using a sheet of paper over the precipitation dish to combat the Aussie humidity.

Besides all that, better results [i.e. with acacia] are often reported from using a solvent with a higher capacity for DMT, like xylene or DCM, but that won't necessarily tackle the matter of goo directly, and the DMT has to be recovered using a different method than freeze precipitation - a process which relies on DMT's poorer solubility in naphtha with decreasing temperature.

OK, great. Make sure you understand how you'll be getting the product out of the xylene.

Anhydrous sodium carbonate, as well as being an industrial product known as soda ash, can be made very easily from sodium bicarbonate (baking soda - NOT baking powder!) by roasting it in a spotlessly clean, stainless steel frying pan on the stove. It's ready when it stops "levitating" and no further water vapour can be seen to condense on a cool object held above the pan. Other options include baking it in the oven or zapping it in the microwave, but I prefer the simplicity, easy monitoring and amusing levitation effect of the stovetop method.
