What are tracers ?

I keep seing this word mostly in trip reports and im not sure what it means .
Could please explain this to me.

if you move the your mouse pointer across your pc screen it should leave a "trace". If you look straight ahead of you and now move your hand across your vision, it will leave a trace. When I take mushrooms this trace is alot more noticable.

I used to have that on Acid when i was much younger , i would be in the metro and i would see these invisible people and they would sometimes come up to me and take pictures
and they were kind of like you said holographic water people , it was really cool.

Oh strange... I guess everyone's different.
I only had it once, a few hours after drinking around 9g of rue tea. Wasn't particularly as fun as sedative.

well, actually im trying to relate my first serious mescaline trip with my previous mushroom adventures.
there is definitely some familiarity or overlap/boundary between the two very different experiences..
but at the moment im still very much puzzled

I've gotten tracers a lot with acid. Sometimes it seems like it's impression made by matter on the fabric of our reality. Other times it seems like watching things in slo-mo where you see where something was and now is and every place it used to be along the trajectory. On ayahuasca, my tracers had the added feature of having a buzzing quality about them, kinda like tracers with lightning.

I get really cool traces on mescaline/cactus actually. Very unlike any other distortion I get from any psychedelic. There are tracers alright, but rather than looking like typical tracers, they appear to be pencil drawings that follow the orginal artifact.

It always reminds me of somewhere in between the Animatrix cartoon with the kid on the skate board and the music video to A-ha's "Take on me"
