What causes nausea? (been drinking b. caapi alone)

Hey All,

I've been brewing b. caapi alone as a gentle introduction to the aya world. I've been using the 3x3 simmering method (starting with ~20g of vine). The finished product is about half a cup of tea, or a little more than 100ml. I have a couple of questions. The tea tastes very good to me, but as I understand it, most people despise the taste. Hmm? Second, I have not experienced one iota of nausea. Hmm? Is the nausea traditionally caused by the DMT-containing ingredient? ... Or are all my experiences caused by simply not extracting enough alkaloids from the vine?

The only noticeable effects so far is I'm a bit groggy the next day (I drink it at night), I've been happier (like when I was happy as a kid waking up in the morning), and an odd metallic taste in my mouth after eating a meal.

Any insight is much appreciated!

It seems like everyone's a little different regarding the Caapi nausea. SWIM only gets it when the Caapi brew first hits her stomach. She's only purged once from aya and that involved specific poor decisions prior to ingesting. One thing, for the admixture, she always uses freebase spice dissolved into lemon juice. It seems like admixtures do induce a lot of discomfort (dagger strongly suggests using the gelatin method for cleaning a mimosa brew).

I've vomited maybe ten times in ~200 journeys. I seem to have figured out what works for me, physically, how to drink, how to hold posture, how to maintain diet that results in purging from massive emotional triggers only.

The people I have shared the identical sacrament with, in the past, almost always puked like crazy, though. Everyone is different...

Stillness, breath, and surrender, are your best guides in times of bodyload.

Hi humility, you still like the taste of ayahuasca? That'll change I am afraid :)

The thing is: once the body knows her real power (which will more likely be discovered after you added the light/DMT) than it might rebel from then on. At least that is what most people experience (not all of course).

But there are many ways to deal with that nausea. In my opinion it is partly psychological or like I tried to explain above and partly just biological because of the effect of the tannins in the brew. You can remove most of them by using special techniques you can find in this forum. But more important is (if nausea occurs) how to deal with it "spiritually". You can easily deal with it if you try to be centered in your heart and simply have faith in ayahuasca's motherly love which she will offer you. So there is no need to feel bad in her arms. And you might ask: why is this happening? Is there something that I create resistance against? Resistance almost always creates discomfort while on ayahuasca. So acceptance is a way. Or you can try to transform what might bother you in that moment.

But you will find out over time how all of this works. It is in fact a very fair game, so fair that there is no real need for fear and nausea.
