What does swim keep doing wrong?

Swim got lucky the first time but every since it seems first and second pulls just leave an orange yellow film.... last time he just kept adding naptha and lye and then finally after assuming it would never happen... voila, success... the spice rises!!

Now he's seeing the same thing... first two pulls result in about 0.0000005 he thinks there may be a tiny fleck in the corner but even that may be just a small bug that got caught in the naptha hehe

Help him please. Swim uses correct measurements... could it have something to do with the fact he uses powdered mimosa?

I guess the question of concern is there such a thing as too much lye or too much naptha?!? From what swims read this will affect purity but not yield.

Too much naphtha will cause a problem with freeze precipitation. Evap naphtha to about 100-200ml depending on how much starting material you are working with.

I don't see how there is any luck involved.
depending on your source, powdered MHRB should not make any diff. at least it never has for me. I've tried both.
