Sometimes when I vape with my emesh my lips get numb. Is that a result of burning the spice, pulling some crystals or liquid through the drip tip, or something else? It goes away but it's not particularly pleasant. Maybe my wattage is too high and Im burning spice? Pulling too hard with my toke? IDK. Help.

Is it freebase your vaping? From what I've been reading it is because its so alkaline but id love an answer to that. seems converting to a salt is the common practice these days ?
Yes, freebase. I don't know enough chemistry to know what you mean exactly about converting to a salt. I seem to have significantly reduced the problem by 1) turning the wattage down a few clicks [I use an emesh on fixed wattage mode], 2) slowing down my toke rate and 3) placing the mouthpiece a little deeper in mouth as suggested in the first reply to this thread. I was probably burning some spice having turned up the wattage in order to try and clear larger doses (30-35mg) in one hit, and I was often probably pulling too hard to try and accomplish the same end.
